Theres A debate over the pros and cons of auction house fees/charges in another thread
Window shopping on eBay and I got a “you might also be interested in…” which usually is nothing I’m interested in at all - on this occasion it was a 1930 World Cup final programme ??? from a seller with zero feedback selling other pretty rare programmes at the same time
https://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/i.html?sid=prie-8604&_pgn=1&isRefine=true&_trksid=p4429486.m3561.l49496
These should end up going for a hefty sum - I don’t know if it’s a dealer listing programmes but I would’ve thought these items would be more suited to an auction house rather than eBay
they look authentic from the photos but the one thing an auction house has over ebay I guess is the peace of mind from seeing items first hand before purchase as opposed to photos
Does this however represent a marked shift for sellers to use eBay rather than established auction houses??
And Do buyers feel more reassured buying from eBay than an auction house??
It’s an interesting one…. |

One thing that appears strange to me, is that the account has no feedback, yet has been allowed to list 23 different items.
When did that change ? As far as I was aware new sellers (whatever the age of the account, as this is 2 years old) was limited to either 10 or 20 listings until such time they 'proved themselves' as a seller. Has this been upped further ?
I guess the threshold of limiting a potential fraud has been relaxed slightly and or ebay think now they have control of the sales funds that they are less likely to be a scammer ? _________________ www.programmehut.com - The Internet Dealers

intriguing. On the one hand no track record. On the other some interesting items and low starting prices. The photo copying is slapdash but they seem to known what they are doing. Caveat Emptor. |

With regards to the point about being able to inspect the item at auction, very few people can actually do that unless they're local to the sale, or travelling to attend. As we know, most auctions are online only these days.
With eBay, despite having no opportunity at all to inspect, at least you have the protection of your money back should the item you purchase isn't what was advertised.
Re this ebay seller, it has the feel of someone who struck lucky doing a house clearance, however the descriptions have the feel of someone who knows exactly what he has. _________________ https://www.flickr.com/photos/footballprogrammes/albums |

Maybe the seller mentioned has closed his account and opened a new one under another alias hence his lack ofeedback |
