Another one gone......

Saw on social media earlier that Scots international and former Stockport County, Arsenal, Manchester United and Stoke City striker David Herd has died aged 82, after a long period in a nursing home.

97 league goals for Arsenal and 114 for Man Utd - quite a record. Not many have done that.

The only photo I have of him is in action for his last league club, Stoke, at Tottenham in 1968.

great Manchester United player-he will be sadly missed RIP David.

His Father played for Manchester City Pre-War days in the 1930's Alec Herd and he was also a very, very good player too.

Both David Herd and his dad, Alec, played for Stockport County in the early 1950s.
In May 1951 in the home game v. Hartlepools United both played in the same game---County won the game and young David scored the first goal.

Father and son playing in the same team, in a league game, is this a record?

Later David teamed up with Denis Law in the Manchester United attack and were a formidable partnership--I recall a bad injury spoiled his career at United.

R.I.P. David.

fantastic player for United, who wasn't always appreciated by some fans.
