Hi, can someone tell me what this item is, it purports to be some sort of programme for the [non=programme] 1970 European Cup final between Celtic v Feyenoord.

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/1970-EUR.....53e4a93530

The ad claims that it is "the later programme" - what later programme? It looks like a home-made edition to me of the type that anyone with photoshop and a laserprinter could knock up? I can't see any record of it on the two definitive Celtic sites, celticprogrammesonline and celticcollectorsclub.
Can someone out there please enlighten me? People seem to be paying a lot of money on Ebay for something that has no real status? Or was this produced by Celtic or Feyenoord after the final? Thanks for your help/thoughts.

Looks like it was produced by somebody else after the final.

At £43 a pop we should all start producing them.

I think you've answered your own question in the first paragraph.

The rather vague notes appear to be a trademark of his other items.
Big Capital letters proclaiming a certain match programme, gives the impression of an actual programme, whereas on closer inspection there are are a number of club magazines/newspapers which is a preview or review of the game.
For example he currently has Marseille v Red Star 1991 ONZE Programme advertised. It's a french sports magazine doing a Cup Final preview issue. Mad

Furthermore, the seller in question currently has 28 items for sale.

9 items have bids on

8 of 9 items the bid leader is the same. He also likes to bid lots of times per item, and is a low scoring feedback member.

His 'little friend' maybe a collector of European football stuff, but he only appears to bid on something that others have bid on.

His 'little friend' also has three bid retractions recently, anyone can make a mistake, I once did myself, but that only the once and that was 2000 transactions ago. SB

It's so obviously a con, he knows it as well. The bidding, as Sharrow Blade has identified, is dodgy. Would ebay do anything about it? Will they hell as like, and so the gullible will go on being fleeced. More fool them.

Thanks all, for confirming my (worst) suspicions.

It really can be the Wild West out there on ebay where such unscrupulous behaviour can go on, as you say, ebay don't want to know as long as they are getting their slice of the transactions (as with those joke Bristol City cup final reprints).

Feel sorry for some collectors who might be new/niave and get fleeced by this sort of thing which gives the whole honest world of buying and selling a bad name.

At least he's up front about what he's selling, but who wants to pay £18 for this? Confused

This programme was produced for a UEFA 1-off match for the 50 years of the EC Final Exhibition in Paris in 2006, the programme was reprinted in 2010. There was a single sheet programme produced for the 1970 EC Final in Italy by Tutti sport but it wasn't sold at the match because Amsterdam was listed as Celtic's opponent instead of Feyenoord/Rotterdam.

Hi, thanks for your input on this topic.

But I stlll have some queries:

1) If it is a "programme", then who produced it?

2) What was the "1-OFF-MATCH" event in Paris, or even the non-game event, or in fact any sort of gathering, (no-one in Glasgow seems to knows about it)?

Where was it held, what was the stadium, who were the teams?

3) What was the Celtic or Feyenoord input into this event?

4) Any internet link to this French event would be useful - is there one?

5)Was there any UEFA sanction/approval, or was it a "fan-event"?

If this item has a UEFA, Celtic, or Feyenoord provenance let me know, but otherwise it stiill looks like a Dutch home-made effort to me.

I have never seen this on any Scottish, or indeed English, dealers' list.
As before, any further input/thoughts welcome. I see it is still for sale on Ebay from the one and only supplier, in Holland.

My comments refer of course to this notorous so-called "later programme"

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/1970-EUR.....53e4a93530

not the one made in scotland which admits what it is, but rather this mealy-mouthed affair above seems to be selling at £50 a time as soon as he can churn them out.

I think that one admits to what it is as well;

Please note: This is the later printed programme

As in 1970 there was no programme produced

Always worth checking out the most definitive reference site available at:

http://www.btinternet.com/~j.cookman/cpindex.html

The programme in question is shown and clearly states that it was produced in 2006 to celebrate 50 years of the EC and a copy produced in 2010. Therefore, it would appear to be a reprint of an official UEFA production.

Producing memorabilia after the event, much like the myriad of pirate copies for European games these days, appears to be an increasing trend. I raised the case, on this forum, of an EBay seller listing a 'commemorative' pennant for the 1967 Fairs Cup Final involving Leeds Utd. Whoever produced it used a Leeds club badge from the 1980s. Unsuspecting collectors, particularly younger ones, are likely to get 'mugged' buying this rubbish.

As stated by an earlier poster, we could all start producing 'commemorative' issues.

I have the Milan daily football papers in my collection La Gazzetta Dello Sport dated the day of the match and the day after the match, the issue dated the day of the match could be considered the closest to a programme in my opinion with team line-ups on the front and 4 more pages inside about the Final
