There have been references on here of late about Programme guides for various clubs, the latest being Jim Gardiner's guide on Liverpool programmes.

Does anyone know what clubs have had guides produced with details of author/publisher etc and current availability?

I have a copy of the Chelsea Home Programme Guide 1946-1998, compiled by Scott Cheshire & Michael Levy.
Published by Scott Cheshire Programme Publications, cover price is £5.99.

Is Jim still actively collecting? I know he gave up following Scotland a few years ago (and possibly disposed of his Scotland collection) and I've not seen him for some time.

Never forget the time we ended up in the VIP tent after a Scotland U21 game in some backwater Croatian town about 10 years ago (the first time I met him). The SFA blazers didn't look too chuffed Laughing

the Wednesday one ( 2 versions ) is produced by a forum member Ann_Orack......
1. a checklist guide size a5 listing every game since 45/6 friendlies, county cup etc.........available at £7 plus £1 shipping from me.
2.hardback a4 size with a scan of every programme ( bar 7 missing ) and checklist for £55 plus £5 postage.

I am not biased in anyway but it is a work of art..........
Nothing on the market compares to this ( hardback ).

I'm sure the forum members who come to my shop will agree.

Possible slight confusion in my original message Tynie.

My reference to 'latest' referred to the latest reference on this forum regarding programme guides rather than the latest publication of a Programme guide.

Thanks for the replies so far.

That Wednesday hardback sounds like a superb publication.

tcno10 - I take it you have the programme shop near to Hillsborough?

Take it from a Blade, Bispham, I've had a quick read of it mate, every thing a collector could want, and if I was a Wendy Fan or even a programme dealer I'd snap one of the hardback versions up in an instance, invaluable. tcno10 is quite correct, nothing else like it.

So far we have

Liverpool
Sheffield Wednesday
Chelsea

I believe there was also a Tottenham one.

Is that it?

I had planned a Blackpool one many years ago and wanted to include Lancashire Senior Cup details but there were too many gaps in knowing whether a programme was issued or not.

With the help of members of this forum I am going to try and fill those gaps in the coming months and then see where that takes me.

There's a Hearts one published 1993 (and an update upto 2005), and a Scotland one upto 2009. Might not be much use to you though!

Ally Ward produced a Manchester United publication.
more a fixture list than anything else.it doesn't tell you specifically if there was or wasn't a programme from a specific game.
lots of superb photos at the back of rare items mostly from the collection of manchesterunitedman1.

The Derby one by Andy Ellis is called The Programme Collector's Guide to Derby County Programmes and is a A5 sized booklet with a blue cover printed in 1997. It lists home and away first team programmes from 1945/46 - 1995/96.

An updated version, Part II, has a green cover and was printed a few month after the first one. It covers first team home and away programmes from 1945/46 - 1996/97 as well as reserve games from 1945-1997.

Andy also published a book titled Derby County's Hidden Treasures Relics of The Rams in 2005, hardback and full colour. It covers all sorts of memorabilia relating to DCFC with many colour photos.

I remember seeing a West Ham guide on ebay a while back. I think it mentioned details of programmes upto the early 80's. Havent seen it since, but would like to own it.

Hiya,

Yes there is a West Ham one. A pink little typed book and goes homes 1945/6 - 1986/7 by Fred Loveday.

Very hard to find and sells for around £80 when it does come up.

Ive got one that i bought in the 80s that I marked and highlighted (silly boy)

I have copied it word for word if anyone needs it though in a word document.

Sorry to go off topic, but do either of you West Ham fans know much about West Ham v Derby programmes from the 1970s? The DCFC programme guide by Andy Ellis says there are two different covers for both the 1974/75 & 1975/76 West Ham v Derby games. Do you have any scans or descriptions of these?

Thanks,

Steve
