E Bay has decided to take down a couple of my listings (not sporting) as they say that they contravene their regulations - even though there are other similar listings currently live and also completed sales!

Anyway I am considering listing these items on ETSY. Is ETSY a good place to sell?

Any comments / guidance appreciated

No experience of selling on Etsy but my wife tried buying a couple of things on there - one item never arrived and was not refunded - the other was cheap tat from China and was nothing like it looked in the picture

Zero customer support so never used it again. I'm sure there are many good sellers but the lack of support was worrying

Tread warily with Etsy. My wife has been a regular seller on them for years, without too many problems, but recently they have started 'retaining' funds for no obvious reason except for a vague customer returns policy. Basically they held onto the money for six weeks after the sale before releasing it. Trouble is, the policy doesn't seem to be evenly applied, some people get their money quickly, others have problems. And as has been pointed out, their customer service is even worse than ebay.

I do a small amount of selling through a seperate product I am involved with on Etsy. They do have a retention policy if you don't use a tracked service for shipping althougn if you put in a reference number for an untracked service this seems to release the funds without a problem.

One of the other sellers we use doesn'teven bother to use the PO reference you get for untracked. They just make up a number`
