Hi Guys
I have a few Fulham photos, all from 87/8 or 88/9, where I can't identify their opponents.
So I'm just wondering if you can help on any of these, please.

Striped shirt - NOT Shrewsbury, Scunthorpe, Aldershot... any ideas?

Stripey shorts, maybe light blue... any clues on keeper?

All dark kit with badge... any ideas?

Sponsors look like LVG........

All help much appreciated please. Don't forget, 87/8 or 88/9 so League Division Three and in 87/8 they played Colchester & Bradford City in the League Cup & Gills in the FA Cup. In 88/9 there were no oppo from other divisions in the cups.

If any of you would like scans in your inbox I'll email them to you gladly.

Thank you.

Third one down reminds me in Gillingham, Pete.

The empty terracing in the background reminds me of the time I was in London round about then and took in a random match - turned out to be Fulham's lowest ever attendance. League Cup tie against Notts County.

Thought the first photo might be them but the stripes appear to be a bit light.

Steve, I'm doing OK for Fulham players, it is Davies - I have about 80 of these photos and about a dozen where I can't get their oppo.

Last year I bought swathes of Gills photos too and that one isn't Gills kit. I'd recognise it a mile off after last year's efforts. 99% of the time they wore white shorts and their blue shirts had a wavy white band across their chests.

Thank you for looking, much appreciated as always.

Your boys got out of jail tonight!

I'm stumped on these, bar recognising the legend Keith Oakes.

isn't the 3rd photo Leyton Orient, looks like John Sitton. He played for the O's between 1985 and 1991 then infamously became their manager

Judging by the very sparse crowd in the third pic it could have been a reserves fixture or a friendly so the O's might be a good shout?

You could be right there - thank you. Must be a friendly though as no league or cup games between them between Oct 79 and Nov 89 (which is too late). I have this photo which is probably from the same game - crowd are all in jackets so may not be pre-season!

Looks a fair crowd for a reserves game, but perhaps they were back in the day. Lucky to get 50 at WHU development squad games now

That's a good call, Kenners - the pitch is excellent so could be early season and they played in the L'woods Cup 2 legs on 18th & 25th August 1987 - evenings - which fits perfectly. Thank you but please don't spend hours poring over them!

I have struggled with these too...

Pic 1 - keep thinking Colchester maybe Mario Walsh or one of the English brothers?
but the kit doesn’t seem right for that season. Could be the League cup tie and with no sponsors’ name they might have been wearing the previous season’s garb but that was slightly different, with the stripes extending to the sleeves.

Fulham had no sponsors in 1987-8 so may be right.

Pic 2 - That’s Leory Rosenior methinks, but the only team I can think of who wore stripey shots was Brighton. Must be midwinter - the mud etc and just has that feel about it.

Pic 3 - Bit bemused by this one as the oppos appear to have their club badge on the right hand side of the shirt...you don’t often, if ever see that. Thought it was a flipped pic at first but the Fulham appears to be no. 7.

Pic 4 - You say that all are 87-8 or 88-9 season but were those kind of balls used then? Maybe it’s a Paint Pot Trophy game against Brighton or Brentford - neither had reason to change kit but Fulham still no sponsors so surely it’s ‘88, no?

Pic 5 - That’s Glen Thomas in the middle.

Pic 6 - Not sure this is a reserve game as there appears too many peeps congregated together and probably a Saturday - did the stiffs play weekends those days?

Hi DQ

This was posted last August and things have moved on a bit since then.

No 1 is Colchester and was sold.

No 3 is Leyton Orient reserves or a friendly of some sort.

Nos 2 & 4 - still no idea

No 5 was Chester and sold.

No 6 was the same game as 3.

Frankly I'm now beyond caring on these as there is absolutely no interest in Fulham stuff. Flogging a dead horse there. I agreed a deal with one bloke to clear the lot and he made all the excuses known to man get me to reduce the price and to delay payment - and then a new one on me - suggesting I should send him pictures of Cheryl Cole - and that was that deal over.

Scouse

Thank you for looking but please don't waste any more time on them. I'll try to find something a bit more interesting for you to tackle.
