A while ago I collected the six programmes from the short series of representative matches played between the Northern & Southern Sections of the old Division 3, starting in 1954/5 and ending in 1957/8 due to the creation of Divisions 3 and 4.

I thought it would be nice to show them as the series started 60 years ago, and I haven't seen this subject discussed before.

I've scanned the covers and team line-ups for each issue and show them here in date order with a few other details thrown in. If anyone wants to get the exact line-ups they are here on Wikipedia with the exception of the last game at Carlisle. No idea why that's missing. If anyone has those details, or the result & attendance, please let me have them.

#1. 16th March 1955 - at Reading - South 2 v North 0 - att 10,438.

#2. 13th October 1955 - at Accrington - North 3 South 3 - att 10,521.

#3. 8th October 1956 - at Coventry - South 2 North 1 - att 14,500.

#4. 2nd April 1957 - at Stockport - North 2 South 1 - att 12,372.

#5. 30th October 1957 - at Crystal Palace - South 2 North 2 - att 12,690.

#6. 18th March 1958 - at Carlisle - result & att unknown

In summary, a short-lived series but close matches, well-supported, and maybe it's a shame they hadn't started before March 1955.

Great stuff, Pete. Thanks.

A mini-collection I've always meant to start acquiring but never quite got round to doing so.
