Busby Babe who filled in brilliantly after Munich, innovative and successful manager - and county cricketer too which I didn't know about till I read the Indy Obit............

I met him in 2008 when he was over in the UK what a truly nice Man R.I.P. Freddie.

Freddie Goodwin

Manchester born and bred joined United in 1953 aged 20, stayed until 1960 when he went to Leeds United for £10,000 in March 1960.

He was the manager at Scunthorpe United then went on to be New York Generals manager then back to the UK and was in charge at Brighton & Hove Albion, Birmingham City then back to the USA to Minnesota Kicks. Also played county cricket for Lancashire.

A player who was at Manchester United during all the trials and tribulations of the Munich Air Disaster.

Freddie's problem was he operated in the shadow of both Duncan Edwards and Eddie Colman.

Played in the 1958 FA Cup Final defeat to Bolton Wanderers.

Overall he played 106 games for United scoring 8.
