Is this the earliest friendly ever? And which season does it count as then?

Aberdeen play a week tomorrow, first leg of Europa League. I believe St.Johnstone are playing Glenavon tonight as well.

If it's at Pittodrie, every chance it'll be rained off.

Typical Aberdonian summer so far - that is, non-existent.

No wonder we're a gloomy bunch up here.

The Welsh qualifiers for the CL/EL started their warm ups well over a week ago! So we've pipped Scotland for the 'record'!
As for what season, I would say 15/16 as the 14/15 season in Wales has officially ended.

FAO derby1884!

I resent the fact that you think Aberdonians are gloomy!!!

I'm not denying it, just resenting it! Very Happy

And if the European qualification process was not just a sop to the big money teams and big money leagues, we wouldn't have to enter the first qualifying round of the Europa league. We were second in the League for crissakes!!!It's a farce ......

although we do get to see some uncharted corners of Europe - there's a few Dons fans heading to Macedonia, and then, if we get through, Croatia! And I had a cracking trip to Riga last year!

Hi Hulldon.

Still can't quite understand why, but my team Brighton are playing away at Aberdeen next month in a testimonial. Currently planning my trip - the websites say that it's a 3pm Sunday kickoff. Any tips for me? Do the club shop ever sell programmes from previous games?

Cheers

Kevin!
If you are heading up, there are plenty of places to stay - premier inns and the like, although Aberdeen is quite expensive ... Lots of pubs for a beer before the game too in the city centre and then 20 minute walk to Pittodrie.
Programmes are available in the shop, but not very many. Ours are produced by Curtis sport and they are available via their website. They have a sale at the moment too, and you can get 50 for £25 or something. The programme is a good read - always wins programme of the year.
Can't say much more, but if you want specifics, let me know ...
Very Happy

A glorious 8-2 victory against a team that has 7 signed players, brilliant stuff.

Also got to watch the worlds most unfit ambulance woman drop an injured Brechin trialist from a stretcher.

Excellent value for money. Just a shame there wasn't a programme or even a ticket to show for it.

Cheers mate - can't make it all the way in a day (especially on a Sunday), so have booked a hotel in Edinburgh so that I can break the journey.

Thanks for the info though, pubs will be a must-do beforehand. Any ideas about when the tickets will go on sale?

If you're in Edinburgh, pop along to Almondvale Programmes and have a mooch around the shop. Usually open 10.00-2.00, except Mondays and Sundays (best to check first though)

Wrap up well!
If you're driving, parking won't be an issue. The stadium is relatively central and you can leave the car 10 minutes away on the Beach Boulevard for free.
The club shop is on the same side of the ground as the main stand.
I'm no fan but to be fair to AFC, they do produce a decent programme.

I may head along to that game myself - never seen Brighton "live".
