Can I say happy St Patricks day to all our Irish cousins and anyone who wants to celebrate today.
All I ask is on St George's day I hope to see TV presenters wearing the red rose and giving St George's day parades the same TV , newspaper , radio coverage as the St Patricks day parades.
I hope everyone goes out and enjoys our day with out fear of being branded a bigot after all the last time I looked we do live in England.

FFS John

You are running out of white charges to be a knight on

Is it racist or anti semitic to say that England had no problem sending the troops in to Ireland,as part of an invading army

Or that England nicked the spuds

Bazza, it's not because I call anybody who's patriotic racist, far from it. You on the other hand do offer up plenty of opportunity to challenge. Have been challenging racism in any form for well over 40 years now, and I always hear the same kind of responses from those who propagate it. What I don't understand is if you do it just for a wind up, or whether you truly believe what you say, but how does that fit in with the WBA thing you were involved in with Regis, Cunningham and Batson? I simply don't understand it!

I have been involved from day one raising funds for the Three Degrees statue in West Bromwich Town centre.
Thats why im not racist but a patriot for England..
You dont live in an Immigrant free area so you cannot comment on the detrement recent immigrants have had on schools, jobs, hospitals and you are not plagued by beggars and robbers on every street corner.
The only grooming in your area is to the local sheep.
Your local newspaper goes into meltdown if a sheep goes missing thats the problem with do gooders like you.
You are doing nothing but harm to our great country.

I can answer that one

Many many years ago when Chelsea played Manchester United at the Bridge the only tickets i could get were in the Chelsea end
I went to the game with a friend of mine who was an actor and had a neutral voice so he could speak whereas i had to,with my northern accent keep very quiet.
A United player whose name i can't remember but was black, was getting dogs abuse from the surrounding Chelsea fans with comments such as "you fcukking black macca(as in macaroon)"
My actor friend got very agitated,on our behalf, and asked about the black Chelsea fullback,Sinclair
The answer was that "yeah but he's OUR macca isn't he"

just heard that the BBC have had an investigation into the use of the word Pikey on Top Gear
They have decided that it is not a racist expression and is not a problem

It is now reported that the travelling community(you know the ones Bazza would call non tax paying thieves) are apparently not happy about the ruling

An excellent critique of Samuel Johnson's quote "Patriotism is the last refuge of the Scoundrel"

Perhaps Samuel Johnson's most famous quotation is "Patriotism is the last refuge of the scoundrel." The point, as I always understood it, is that appealing to loyalty to one's own country is the act of a demagogue, of one who will say and do anything to gain public approval and political power. Primarily, it casts those who disagree as unpatriotic, hostile to the institutions and interests of their own country. Honest disagreement becomes character assassination. Underneath the appeal is the exploitation of bigoted or prejudiced feelings of the masses.

Does that shine any further light on your argument Bazza? This quote, by the way, was made in 1774, 240 years ago and it's still the same to this day.

Samuel Johnson was born a few miles from me
Another one of his quotes was

One of the disadvantages of wine is that it makes a man mistake words for thoughts.

So my dear Welsh/Scots friend lay off the Lamrussco then you wont call people a C**T..
Very Happy

What would make the English like St George's Day?

Morris Dancing, beer or a fry up?
