Excluding Meadowbank and Clydebank I understand that several member clubs had not produced a programme until well into the1960's and possibly the 1970's .

I believe the clubs in question to include ARBROATH , BERWICK,
DUMBARTON, EAST STIRLING, FORFAR, MONTROSE, STENHOUSEMUIR and STRANRAER .

Can anyone confirm the above clubs, advise date of the 1st league issue , were any prcededby cup ties

Does anyone have any of those games spare

Easy ones first.

Berwick - certainly produced wholesale in the 1940's and 50's prior to their entry into the Scottish League proper in 1955-56 season. They used to play in the Scottish "C" league between 50-1 and 54-5 so they regularly issued against the likes of of Hearts and Hibs which are very collectable today. Regulalry used to appear on prominent Scottish dealer's lists in the late 80's and early 90's starting at about £15 each.

Stranraer - exactly the same as Berwick. First season in Scottish league 55-6, produced for every home game. I used to write articles on programme collecting in their programme about 8 years ago and picked up three lovely Stranraer collections on the back of that. Regularly produced their ubiquitous 4 page programme in the Southern Counties League in the 40's and 50's. Have had a Scottish Cup tie against Cowdenbeath from 46-7, but sold it many moons ago. They also issued for home Scottish Cup tie against Rangers 47-8, which was thei record crowd. Same type of programme until the late 1970's!

Montrose - first season of issue was 55-6. Have one vs Stenhousemuir.

Arbroath - first season of isue was, I believe, 59-60.

Dumbarton - 68-9. Have two or three spare if you're interested.

Stenhousemuir - 67-8, but you never, ever see them!

East Stirling - 63-4 for debut season in division 1. Black cover. Later had a season when they amalgamated with Clydebank, to become E.S.Clydebank which was designed to get Clydebank into the league from the Juniors, then reverted back to E.Stirling once this had been achieved. Programmes crop up intermittently.

Whilst not on your list, didn't know if you knew that Scottish non-league side Spartans produced their 1st ever prog for a Scottish Cup game v Forfar on 15/12/79.
