When middlesbrough played them in the UEFA Cup in 2004/05 I managed to get hold of the following Lisbon newspapers.

“O Jogo” from morning after match with 10 page coverage
“A Bola” from morning after match with 10 page coverage
“Record” from morning after match with 9 page coverage
“Destaq Diary” from morning after match with 2 page coverage

There was no official programme produced but there was a pirate which sold out a few hours before the game which I dont have. I have been told that only a few 100 of these were made and they have gone for £30-£50 on ebay.

This was back in 2005 so they may have changed since then, hope it helps a little.

No programme v Bolton in the 2007/08 Uefa Cup last 16.

The daily O Jogo Newspaper had a few pages previewing the match and there was a weekly club newspaper which had a small preview of the match but also covered other sports.

Neutral ground I know but when I went to Albufeira in the summer to watch Forest v Sporting Lisbon there wasn't a programme, however, I did pick up a copy of 'Record' the daily Portugese sports paper which was full of info about the game.

Funny looking through the piece about Forest because all I could make out was Brian Clough, Peter Shilton and Garry Birtles!

The club has for many, many years produced a weekly newspaper of their own, which covers all the sports played by the club.

SPORTING has a web presence:

That's definitely a pirate. I was at the later round v Rangers and some old guy was selling them on his own. I even managed to haggle a discount for buying 3.

The club shop said there were no programmes just some weekly newspaper they published.

I was also there the time before when Rangers played them and similar programmes were on sale at the airport as the official travel club flights arrives. Plus I think the programme was in english so it is unlikely they were official

When Cardiff played at Sporting in 1964-65 they sent me some of the clubs newspapers from the weeks before and after the Cardiff game, along with a programme for their home game v Manchester United the previous season.

I can confirm the Sporting Lisbon Cardiff club newspaper for 73/74 . I was at the game and I know very few came back. Information on the game is page 8 and 9 together with the teams. If people class the Austria Wien mag as a programme would they do the same with this

That's interesting new Tim, I've never seen one in 35+ years of collecting City, not even when looking for club newspaper/magazine issues like the Real Madrid one. I know there are also 2 times of Admira Wacker progs from the 90s, I think one is the standard newspaper type and another magazine type which is probably a club mag.

Thanks for the info

Tony
