Well that's the first 'phase' of matches completed. Thoughts so far?

I'm really enjoying it, although I really wish I was there. Thought England were ok, a draw is a decent result I guess but it just all seemed a bit flat and lacking a spark. Maybe Rooney will give us that but I worry about the Ukraine game.

Spain copied Scotland with the 4-6-0 and I was impressed by Italy. Russia layed down a marker but against opposition of dubious quality. Poland should be a sterner test tonight.

Ze Germans looked solid in their win, the game against the Dutch should be a cracker, the Dutch really need something, the Germans will want to knock them out, they both hate each other.

Well I'm loving it, helps being able to structure your day to see all the games Smile

Mind you I bought a bigger tv for this last week, Satuday the dog broke the screen, sunday I bought another and that didn't work when I got it home. Hope to get a 3rd today Smile

I don't know what people are going on about with England. Under the last manager they would be moaning about the results and who he picked. Under this manager they not only want the results but also to play like 1970s Brazil. FUG ME he's had a few days, he's doing brilliant from what I can see. We had the better chances then France we just pass backward to much because Young had a "rest" day. I would have picked young but he was just dominated by the big French guys.

The football's been okay, the commentating and punditry has been embarrassingly awful. It's about time with television technology, that the commentary could be muted and just leave us with the crowd noise. Come the revolution, Andy Townsend, Jim Beglin and that tosser Hansen should be the first against the wall.

Hansen at half time last night, 'Father Time has finally caught up with Shevchenko'.

Hansen at full time, 'Shevchenko's, movement and finishing is out of this world'.

It's bad enough Jonathan pearce having an organism everytime the ball goes into the area, complimented by Martin Keown rubbishing every decision made by the ref, and then changing his mind when he sees the replay, and then there's ITV with the grusome twosome Clive Tyldesley and Peter Drury.

They've all got nothing to say, maybe apart from Strachen, and Carragher, although in Jamie's case we probably need subtitles.

Stock answer to every foul appears to be any of three or all of them 'he's made the most of it', 'He's made a right meal of it' or there wasn't anything in it.

Strangely, this doesn't apply to our brave lads, as proved when Milner went down for the free kick, then it becomes a soft free kick.

Every foreign goalkeeper is dodgy, apparently.

No disrespect to the Irish, but maybe their defeat to Croatia might dampen this country's media lovefest with them.

Spain - Unbalanced , feel obliged to find a place for Fabregas, ridiculous not playing a recognized striker against De Rossi, real confidence booster to the likes of Torres, llorente etc. Villa a big big miss.

Italy - Suddenly, according to the media, they are some non descript footballing nation mixing it with the big boys. Never ever discount them.

Holland - Too many strong willed individuals, Robben, Van persie, De Jong, Van Bommel. Old divisions looking like they are resurfacing.

Germany - Efficient and well organised

England - hard to break down but bland beyond belief.

Memo to Kick off: I don't think anyone's expecting us to play like Carlos Alberto, jairzinho, rivelino, gersen, Pele et al, but lets have a go at these teams, none of them are unbeatable.

France- Overrated

Make the last game as easy as possible, a win against sweden means a draw should suffice against Ukraine. Just go at them, the swedes are poor defensively.

But will Roy 'unleash hell'?

Don't even get me started on the commentary. Summed it up last night during the Ukraine match. A couple of weeks ago BBC made out that Ukraine was bandit land and you'd be murdered before you reclaimed your baggage from the terminal. Last night Jonathan Pearce and Martin Keown going on about how lovely the people are, and Jake Humphrey stood without bodyguards or a stab vest in Independence Square.

And that's better than anything I can say about ITV. Adrian fugging Chiles Shake

Have a go ? what with ? England are pretty much down to the bare bones.

I don't think we are being too negative, I really don't. Monday we just didn't have the quality to keep the ball long enough to push France back.

The players can't win, they are either condemned for lack of effort because they don't have the quality to beat the world or they are not playing pretty enough to make the world admire us. Lets show we can compete first in the good old English way.

Totally agree about TV it's painful.

The tournament has been above my expectations so far, whilst the commentary has plumbed new depths.

I couldn't give a monkeys if the Polish left back once played a reserve game for Wigan, concentrate on commentating on the game in front of you and not dredging up any tenacious connection with English football you can find.

They were waxing lyrical about Croatia's Jellyfish and how his form for Everton got him picked, no mention at all about his previous 18 months with Rangers which attracted Everton's interested in him in the first place.

Plus, given the BBC at least is a UK wide, publicly funded broadcasting network, where are the Welsh, Northern Irish and Scottish commentators? oh that's right, it's jobs for the Match of the Day boys and sod anyone else.

Finally, can we perhaps just have coverage and punditry on the game being shown instead of England updates before, during and after the game? Not everyone watching in the UK is an England supporter.

Saturday = Dickie Davis - All-in wrestling followed by racing and then out to play football while waiting for the results - unless gone the game then listening to the results on the top deck of the No.11 pickup a Argus on the way up the street maybe.

Sunday = Star Soccer with spuds, gravy and mostly chicken wings. Golden Shot if raining but off to play football. Back for Sunday Night At The Palladium perhaps

Bring it all back !
