I thought it only fair to say a big thank you to all those who showed up and especially to those who introduced themselves. Apologies to Badhand who I initially thought was Mr Gas (as a Bristol Rovers fan) but many thanks for the purchase that Badhand made - I hope you were happy with it.
As Sharrowblade put down in a previous posting, I was my normal abusive self which some people seem to expect from me, so I hope I didn't disappoint.
As far as not having a specific "programme" stall, I really don't know what punters expect any more. We (dealers) ask on here if there is anything specific you want us to bring, no one writes back and then complain that we haven't got x,y or z (which we may have at home). However, all in all, I had a really enjoyable day, met some nice people, hopefully gave people a lot to look at on my stall (covering all elements of the copy) and then had a nice 3 and half hour drive back to good old London.

Alan, it was I that mentioned that there seemed to be a lack of stalls specifically selling programmes this year. The observation was made as a consequence of attending this fair on many occasions over the last twenty years and in comparison with other years there is definitely a reduction. There were a number of regular dealers who for some reason weren’t in attendance this year. As somebody mentioned, it’s probably a sign of the times but as I'm predominately a programme collector it was disappointing for me as I do like a rummage. That’s just my opinion.

As a customer at a fair, it’s encouraging to note that you as a dealer asked us if there was anything specific you could bring along. This is procative on your part as you may get a sale and the customer comes away happy. All credit to you and maybe other dealers could learn from your proactive approach. Due to the nature of my wants, I’m in a position were the programmes I require will only be found on an offers list, at an auction or vastly overpriced on a backboard at a fair. I did a little research and checked your website just in case, but not surprisingly they were not there.

Finally after saying hello to John and having a brief chat, I made my way over to your stall for a third time to say hello. As Sharrowblade mentioned, because you are the enigmatic, debonair, international playboy, you were in friendly banter with customers on all occasions whilst your lovely lady was serving. Meanwhile my lovely lady was in my ear wanting to spend my well earned money in Leeds, so off I went.

Although I was disappointed for the reasons mentioned, all in all it was an enjoyable day……..until I went to Leeds.

Alan stop being so complimentary you told me that Yorkshire folks live up to their name. And you spent more on fags than you took on the day.

You're probably right about the fags but there again fortunately they weren't all from Yorkshire. I bought my duty frees when I went North of Watford !!

Just out of interest AB what Subbuteo did you have that was out of one of the forum members price range? I've a pretty big collection and I'm just a little curious.

I suppose that I should be flattered to be mistaken for Mr Gas. Laughing
Yes, I am happy with the programme.
