It will be interesting to see what the Germans do about Pirlo - I suspect he wont get much time on the ball all game and Italy will look a second-rate team as a result.

Pirlo looked good because the English players were all back on their 18 yard line. WTF did Hodgson not have somebody man mark him, and snuff out their main threat?

The talk of weary legs is a nonsense, as is the absence of other players. The Italians have also just finished a season, as have the Spanish, Portugese and Germans, and they looked as if they understood what playing football meant. The dearth of the talent in the English game has nothing to do with being in the EU, apart from the free movement of players, otherwise Italy, Germany, Spain et al would surely have the same percentage of foreign nationals playing. It's down pure and simply to the greed of the Premiership clubs in trying to buy success, rather than putting money into the game at grass roots level. It'll get much worse with the new Sky money.

On a par with Lichenstein, Andorra and Papua New Guinea in 10 years Laughing Laughing Laughing Laughing Laughing Laughing

I don't because England were no better than this for most of the time before the Premier League was formed.Euro 2012 was fantastic for England compared to Euro 88 or Euro 92 for example.
Historically reaching a penalty shoot out in the last 8 of the European Championships is pretty good for England.Germany and Italy are historically better at football than England and Portugal happen to have Europe's best player at the moment.

Maybe we're overlooking the obvious -

England can't knock the ball 12 yards with accuracy ! Shake

Overall, I thought England did quite well considering, new manager and not the best of squads.

I still think we need a lot of improvement, certianly more attacking football is required, but we do look very solid at the back.

OK I am man enough to admit I got it wrong! I underestimated the Germans ability to be tactically naive.
