Mate - I have felt the same all season and we are having one of our best. I only go now as its a habbit that I cant seem to break. I have often thought about walking out during games as the whole thing is just not what it once was. Plastic fans sitting in neat rows chatting about anything but the game and not really caring about the whole thing, just being there because its trendy.

If we go up to the Prem next year I have decided that while I will go to Arsenal as its the only ground I have not done with Norwich, I am going to finish the 92 and then start watching non-league football or maybe just stick with the home games.

The ref was the main problem today, Portugiser Smile

It's a non contact sport now but the reverse is also a problem when teams only buy players over 6ft.

I think the main thing that has left the sport is respect for football itself. Clubs, players and sadly most of us fans now only respect winning and the way that happens doesn't really matter it seems.

Every time two players come in contact one or both sets of legs are lifted up, arms too as they both fling themselves on the ground. It's like watching Tiswas !!

I feel the same way but I think it is probably more a reflection of my age, things always seem less magical. However, the fact that these to***rs are paid so much, the fact that we have to sit down, the fact that people are playing with their camera phones, the addition of corporate hospitality, foreign England managers who are only their for the money and not the love of their country is killing the passion and atmosphere at our games. The last time I was at an England game half the crowd were showing off the photos they had captured with their phones and the atmosphere left me feeling souless, I used to get a real buzz from the crowd, but now it's gone.

Also felt the same for years.
The same old faces all the time players dont need to perform
as they know they will be automatically on the next teamsheet.
Everytime we go out of a tournament the manager says its time for a change nothing happens.
Starting to lose my love for club football as well
I did every match home and away league and cup for four seasons last year only did home and a couple of aways this year done the same.
Now wondering if i want to renew my season ticket.

I think we can all agree that some of the best players were Pele, Stanley Matthews, George Best, Puskas, Bobby Moore and the such, well these footballing gods have all retired from the sport and we still (to a point) have football. The current crop of players think that they game couldn't exist without them, and for some reason they seem to be holding the owners of the teams to ransom, by making out if they no longer played then the team woudln;t be as good and the fans wouldn't go.

I also find it hard to understand the hype about some of the current players, Ashley Cole is regarded by many of the top pundits as being the best left back in the world, which to me shows the real state of the game as my personal opinion of Cole is that whilst he is very good at going forwards he is seriously lacking in the defensive aspect of the game (Which as a left is your main job), if he's the best in the wolrd then the rest must be crap.

The other thing is the money issue the players are paid far too much, I was reading an article recently about the Chelsea and Man City game and they were showing the players weekly wages, at Chelsea Turnball was getting £20k a week and McEachern was getting £10K a week, you look at other youngsters in that age group and they are making between that a year not a week for doing jobs which require a hell of a lot more work, a hell of a lot more dedication and a hell of a lot more unsociable working hours and a hell of a lot more pressure situations.

Football players say they deserve the wages that they get paid but they really need to be brought down to earth with a bang.

ANother thing i'd like to see is me put in charge of player discipline, the players will soon learn how to conduct themselves on the pitch (if they don;t then it proves that they are just stupid) as i will hand out heavy punishments and suspension for players acting up on the pitch, the headbutting which has crept into the game over the last few years woudl be an automatic 10 game ban, players who go head to head will get 5 games eahc players who dive will be suspended and fined heavily any that mock the officials will be fined and suspended (The clapping of the hands and the waving of cards etc).

I have to admit i'm getting rather tired of the whole football charade and whilst clubs wont give a flying **** as they'll just get the income of some other poor sap I can;t see myself going to another football game for well possibly ever, that includes watching on the TV (Although will probably go and watch me mates playing sunday league)

Some great replys there lads to my original query and sad to say so many home truthes.
I can still remember the amazing thrill i used to get traveling down to Molineux every other saturday mid 60s to late 70s to se The Wolves.
And although i still go to several games at The Mol a season with my son and grandson unfortunatly for me anyway that felling is no longer there (was i spoilt that era every team seamed to have so many great players .... to many to mention.
Will that feeling of antisipation ever come back ....i would sure like to think so.

I thought that after fifteen minutes we would get 4 or 5, but nothing much else happened after the second goal went in.

I've been going to the mol for over 50 years and i still get the thrill every single time I set foot in the place.
As for England, I like to see them do well, but to be fair I dont have the same buzz about them.
