When did ebay feedback not being given become a 'thing' ?
I have bought from 3 different sellers this week, paid instantly for all 3 sellers, have since received the item and left positive feedback for all, but NONE of them have given any feedback themselves

I know the feedback system is flawed, given how easy it is for sellers to have a negative removed nowadays, but what is the point of having the system if users aren't encouraged to use it ?

I think ebay should offer some kind of incentive for people to use it. Say a random chance that either the buyer or seller or even both get the transaction for free. Buyer gets his money back, seller gets his fees back, you watch the increase in feedback !!

I sell a lot of bits on e-bay i don't collect any more, and get feedback from about 2 or 3 out of every ten buyers, i always leave good feedback for them.

Likewise with buying, a better percentage of seller (about 3 in 4) leave feedback, but why some sellers don't leave it i don't understand.

Good idea, it would definately encourage more people to leave feedback.

Part of the feedback system that annoys me, is I bought a book Buy-it-now and the seller took 16 days before sending it. The book never arrived and I had to raise a case to ebay to get my money back, so I left neutral feedback (as I wasn't out of pocket, else it would have been negative). But with only stating that the item wasn't received and refund given, the seller managed to convince ebay to remove the feedback

I now question, what is even the point of leaving any unless it's positive ?!?

I'm guilty of no longer leaving feedback as a buyer.

It's simply I buy too much and I lead a busy life.

Leaving positive feedback for a seller who delivered exactly what u ordered and on time as well as a buyer who was pleased with their purchase that was sent out quickly is simply an act of good manners all round basically saying thank you

In my opinion anyone not leaving good feedback ( which I accept is not compulsary) is showing a lack of good manners and that in doing so some buyers or sellers where feedback is a guide to their trading status also may well steer clear.

I always take a look at a buyer or a seller to see how they have conducted their business and if I see lots of negatives then I would steer well clear as anyone would, as well as anyone who ignores u after a sale I would perhaps be swayed to look elsewhere.

But to come out with that u buy a lot and have a busy life! and think it is it says a lot about you, you "buy so much" and have the time to do so yet......

I bet u have the time if you get stiffed on ebay making time if u have been ripped off.

Manners cost nowt. No need to respond.

It's common courtesy (or should be) to acknowledge receipt of payment when selling or safe receipt of item when buying - particularly so with the latter considering how the buffoons at the Royal Mail conducted themselves before Christmas, I'd gladly wager that a sizeable chunk of what people put in the post during late November/December went walkies.
