What a great story.

My brother had been going to Rangers from the mid 60's and I followed him from that 69/0 season so was around the club when the exchange in the story was taking place.

Terry Venables had just arrived from Spurs and struck up a good partnership with Rodney Marsh and up and coming youngster Gerry Francis who at 19 was brilliant.

A memory that sticks from those times was a couple of seasons later when Rangers played Birmingham City and you saw Trevor Francis with his electric pace for the Blues and Gerry, playing from midfield for the R's.
