After searching on ebay for Carlisle badges I came across this persons page.
http://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/capt.....7675.l2562
There seems to be about 6 or 7 designs for various clubs. When I first seen the Carlisle ones I thought maybe official and early 90s but when I saw all the other clubs am starting to think they are more recent and unofficial, anyone know anything about them?.

All modern designs. The Brentford ones are anyway. I wonder if they had permission to use the Clubs crest? Probably not! Also, they're not for me. _________________ Not Forgotten; Allwright, Greechan, Hagan, Kennedy, Littler, Purver, Robotham, Saunders, Shields |

Have to say the first Rovers one I came across is awful. Didn't bother to look any further. _________________ I am not gas, I am a Pirate.

Yeh, they're not great looking are they? Are least the seller is 100% honest about them being modern reproductions. |

Pleased the seller is saying 'new badge' on listings. I think they are good. Just wish the bidding wasn't so feverish on the ones I like! Would be delighted if more were buy it now rather than auctions. Nice to see them. People of course don't have to buy them. |

What I have found is if you refrain from buying them the price will come down eventually. They are mass-produced in China for a few cents and should the seller run-dry they would simply re-order another 250, highest outlay being the excessive postage. |

I would agree Dorking, I think they're great too.
Doesn't bother me in the slightest whether or not they are reproductions, I've always loved the insert badges, and 'Coffer' souvenirs in general.
Us footy-daft lads who grew up in the 1970s were never too far away from a Coffer product.
I just wish he'd get a few for Newport County!! |

The seller does occasionally read this forum, and considering the decent prices you have mentioned that Newport inserts go for, hopefully he will take the hint |
Yes I spoke to him last night and he said Newport were on the way mate.
Happy days!
Very pleased with that. |

Thanks for your comments, I've never came across badges like these before so that why I came on here. If the establish collected think they are great then I might try to add them to my collection.
Thank you again for your help.

Inserts are often subjected to what I call "badge snobbery" Kyle, which given the quality of today's badges is perhaps a tad understandable mate.
They're entirely synonymous and typical of their 1970s era, when "tacky" souvenirs for football and pop music dominated our lives, our bedrooms, and our denim and Harrington jackets!!!
lol
You either love them or you hate them.
There seems little middle ground where these are concerned.
I'm firmly in former camp, I loved these as a nipper, they were "must have" and given the prices some fetch these days, it's clear there's a lot of us who feel similarly.
Just because they don't boast the quality and stunning detail of today's badges mate, it doesn't mean they're not sought after or highly collectible.
They clearly are.
Like Dorking says, it's up to the individual to decide for themselves.
But they're a part of footy badge history as important as any other. |

I have already featured all the Crewe ones (all twelve!) on my blog (link above). How is the quality - was thinking of picking up a couple at least...[/url] |
The quality is on a par with the old traditional inserts Martin, pretty much identically so I'd say mate.
A (very) weighty metal badge with good pin-clasp rear, and a 'tacky' crest sticker adorning the circle.
The tacky crests were all part of the appeal for me.
I'll be bidding on all the Newport ones for sure (already have on the two currently on there), no matter how many varieties appear.
The more the better.
I couldn't be more delighted to see these 70s classics resurrected.
If you're unsure, buy one or two to satisfy yourself before going all in maybe? |

Hi i collect inserts so i got a couple of ebay from him the quality of the metal is very good in fact a bit thicker than original for some shapes its the insert disc which is poor quality ive not got a problem with selling repos as long as its stated on the badge because some chelsea collectors were paying £50 plus thinking they were 40 years old and rare ...It says "new badge "thats the description .Is this right |
