All ,

I believe the volumes of the Association of Football Statisticians handbooks carried the club colours for each team.
Has anyone got a copy of the 1894-95 version and able to tell me the club colours listed for Derby County.

I know there is one for sale on eBay, but not worth £5 to read one line

thanks in anticipation

That is the problem...it is on that site with red, white and black stripes , yet no-where else seems to be able to confirm that.
British Newspaper archive has no reference and just doesn't make any sense for one year.

The AFS book at least gives some club colours and want to know what it lists them as

Historical Kits uses the AFS as a reference. If you look under the kit, the three letters indicate the source. One source is the AFS booklet. Plus two others.

The Brentford kit, on historical kit website, for the early years is definitely wrong too. Brentford never used or wore salmon pink. All reports are of claret and blue stripes. Obviously, back then, you were restricted in what could be produced. The rowing club colours used pink but Brentford never did. Even during the early years, Brentford were known as the "Scarlet's" as they also wore all dark red shirts. But that's not shown either. Depends whose sources are used.

I saw that - two of the quoted sources no longer exist and the other is a named individual, not AFS.
What is the source for AFS? - I suspect a trip to League HQ/Preston/Manchester will be in order to resolve this.

Does Derby have a Club Historian who may be able to answer the question?

yes , that's me and that's why I'm trying to find an answer....the shirt colours as shown on the historical web-site don't make sense and currently there is no documentary evidence to support it.

The named individual just quoted AFS Annual 1894-95. As the poster above proves.

Aren't there any newspaper articles or match reports from that period?

Do the FL or Nat Football Museum, or anywhere else, keep these records?
