Antiques Trade Gazette are apparently running an article this week on this Andy Lane fiasco.
Another arrow for the quiver I think. They are a major auctions publication

West Ham hold memorabilia auction as they leave Upton Park

As West Ham and Manchester United prepare to play the final match at Upton Park tonight, the East London club have announced that fans will have the chance to buy their own slice of Hammers’ history with an extensive auction of memorabilia, including fixtures and fittings from the stadium itself.

I was reading the Government were thinking of introducing quarterly company reports. Of course small businesses are against the idea because it's more work for them ..... poor things , more work = less holidays .
In FSA case it would have altered people to problems with the company earlier. A year gave too much time to allegedly rob Peter to pay Paul and hope for the best . In that last year a hell of a lot of money vanished from what i hear. The company went from ticking over into free fall . All the fault of the infamous non paying client (s) . All very very odd. |

Maybe they don't want to while an investigation is going on. Or maybe it's not in their interests. I rang a well known collectors magazine about Mr Lane before all this came out. I was told in no uncertain terms that they were not interested. But oddly enough the guy said he bought a programme in the FSA in March. What do you make of that ? I'll let you decide. |

Seems strange. As we all know as long as they keep to the facts then there should be no problem in publishing.
Unlike the tabloids perhaps specialist publications feel that any adverse publicity may get punters wondering about the rest of the sector? |

I will be checking this out tomorrow. I must admit after getting confirmation of the article being prepared last week, things have gone a bit quiet. |

Having been outed as an ex-cop is OK as I have only one direction over all of this. Is Mr Lane guilty of theft and / or deception? If so it will grab the headlines in any publication. At the moment he is purely regarded as a bad businessman with everything going wrong especially non-payers.
I will go with Wullie on this one. Had this been dealt with earlier we or at the least the authorities would know who he has associated with over the past year where it is barely conceivable our precious items have disappeared into their hands.
I am not a happy man Mr Andrew Lane so what do you expect next? |

The one crumb of comfort is i doubt he'll ever show his face in the hobby again. For a start he has no assets And it's is amazing the number of people in the hobby i have spoken to who frankly could not stand the bloke. Now this. Of course he'll still have a few weasel friends , but there are a few who'll never give this bloke a minutes rest if he ever tried to start up again. No doubt his only outlet would be eBay, which should make very interesting viewing. |

I'm writing this post on behalf of my mum. This is a long story so I'll try and keep it as short as possible! Andy lane came to mums house in January this year and took away approx £4,500 worth of my late fathers cigarette card collection. My dad passed away very suddenly 3 years ago with a very quick 3 month aggressive battle with cancer. He died days after his 59th birthday. Mum and dad had been married 35 years. It took mum 3 years to part with this collection and it was very hard for her to do. Andy knew the history when he took the card collection in January 2016. The first auction was 7th March 2016 and mum spoke to Andy a week or so after this and he confirmed that "some" of the cards had sold at the auction, "about £500 worth". That was the last we heard from him. We tried every avenue possible to get hold of andy with no joy at all then we received the letter from the insolvency service. So not only does Andy owe mum approx £500 from the auction sale in March, we also have the issue of not knowing what has happened to the remaining £4000 approx worth of cards that Andy should still have that was due to be sold in another auction in June. Has he sold these on without our permission to make money for himself? We have been advised by Action Fraud that if he has already sold the remaining cards then he has committed fraud/theft. So presuming now we report this to his local police station or do we go to our local police station? We want to see this man punished for what he has done, particularly as it has affected so many people. It's not even the loss of money that is affecting us most emotionally, it's the fact that Andy has clearly stolen my dads card collection, knowing the story behind it and clearly not showing any remorse at all!! Mum feels like this is her fault and feels like she's let dad down, but I know it's not her fault. It's just very unfortunate that we all got caught up with this disgusting fraudulent man who clearly doesn't have a heart and doesn't give a shit about anyone except himself! When he visited mum in January he was gloating about looking forward to his 3 week Florida/Caribbean cruise in September 2016 which is now clear he has funded on our money! I'm sure everyone is as angry about this as we are but all we want is justice and to see this man punished for what he has done. Surely he can't get away with this??? Is this a story for the local/national newspapers? The more people that come forward about this, the better the case we have. I'm happy for anyone to contact me about this [email protected] |

Hi Amanda, I know its no comfort, but please, if there is one thing you do, don't let your mum blame herself, she certainly hasn't let anyone down least of all your dad.
Hoping you get what is rightfully yours.

Well these are the stories i hear all the time. The guy is pure and simple scum . If this scumbag thinks for a moment we'll all forget it in time he is mistaken . If he thinks he'll auction again , let him. I'd love to see he's smirking face when a massive picket line turns up.
He is finished. I suggest he stops sponging , get off he's fat arse , get in the real world. Do a days work and try and get some dignity in his sad pathetic life. Horrible story Amanda . Sadly sums this bloke up. |

I just don't know how this man can sleep at night! Mum said she found out after the insolvency hearing that Andy is £178,000 in debt!!! How is this even possible when he doesn't have to buy anything for the business as he sells stuff for other people???! Clearly he's been a criminal living a luxury life for a long time! I hope this b@@@@rd gets what is deserved to him. I cannot stand people like this!! Sounds like he's conned far too many innocent people which just isn't fair! |
