Of course there's nothing wrong with posting this and asking for help but doubt you'll get any due to the small size of the photo supplied. _________________ Regards,

As you say Adam, it's hard to make out, but due to the fact that it's all on the Oxford side, you would assume its the Oxford team. However, looking at the team sheet and age of the prog, wouldn't have thought it would be worth much, if anything. Certainly, not many programme collectors would be interested, and most autograph collectors wouldn't be either, unless you had a COA. _________________ PLEASE check out my Prostate Cancer UK charity auction page here: https://www.facebook.com/groups/1550474568596587/ |

But by the same token, how do people know that you haven't just signed that yourself? More and more people are selling fake autographs and programmes as the real deal these days. As I said, I don't think many programme collectors are interested in signed programmes, and genuine autograph collectors will want a COA or photograph of the person signing the item, or both. _________________ PLEASE check out my Prostate Cancer UK charity auction page here: https://www.facebook.com/groups/1550474568596587/ |

So at least you know you didnt sign it youself, but nobody else would know that. And how do you know someone else hasn't signed it and passed it off as legit? I think there was a thread on here recently about more fake items around, particularly from some auctions. _________________ PLEASE check out my Prostate Cancer UK charity auction page here: https://www.facebook.com/groups/1550474568596587/ |

I'm not saying they're fake, I'm not saying they're genuine. I would suggest that if you want advice on thier legitimacy, you are probs best off going ot an autograph dealer, who could also value them, and tell you who they are. _________________ PLEASE check out my Prostate Cancer UK charity auction page here: https://www.facebook.com/groups/1550474568596587/ |

Mick hasnt said that they are fake all hes said is that you have no COA and they could have been faked before they were sold to you. In all honesty they probably werent as they have no real sale value anyway and a lot of programme collectors would like a mint copy of a programme rather than an autographed one.
As Mick said, autograph dealers are really who you need to contact but from a programmes point of view - the autographs dont really add or subtract to the programme so i reckon on ebay (i think this relates to another of your threads too) the programme would probably attract 1 bid and sell for 99p.

As a cautionary measure you need to take a number of things into account. In the days of yore - I would suggest pre 1990 as a starting point - many young fans used to hang outside the ground where players could be asked for their autographs, in all innocence. It was like collecting cigarette cards or marbles - it was of that particular era
When people started to think that money could be made out of it, thats when forgeries started to appear. Many players simply won't sign anything nowadays as they see it as making money off their backs (they obviously don't earn enough money)
You will not see COA's with anything pre business getting in on autographs and mass singings. They're a complete waste of time and money, and mean nothing.
I recently bought about 20 QPR mid 1980's autographed programmes and am happy with their provenance - looking at, and comparing, multiple signatures of the ame players on different items, and different handwriting styles. Some real amateurish attempts at forging signatures are easy to discern as they are obviously done by the same hand.
I have, believe it or not, seen someone trying to flog a book dedicated to Bobby Moore, printed after his death purporting to have his genuine signature on it... |
