Got a couple of these ticket stubs - just wondered if they were from 1992/93 as there's no date on them .

I presume it must be Rovers first game in the Premier League but not sure .

Our first game in the PL was Crystal Palace away, the first home game was Arsenal...I think Man City might of been the first Saturday match at home.

Any chance you can upload a pic of the ticket?

They are pre PL tickets - possibly the 88/89 match on the day of Hillsborough?

Would that be described as a 'Special Match' though? Perhaps more likely that it was the Simod Cup game from the same season?

Every match is ' special ' at Deepdale .

Just wondered what the date is for the City game - i thought it was Rovers 2nd home match of the season - the special match could be the Simod or maybe the Full Members or Testimonial .

Maybe v Burnley .

back in the days before Jack Walker an all-ticket match at Ewood was rare and therefore the tickets would be printed with this on - not just why but they were. It wouldn't of been the Simod Cup match as they were VERY rarely well attended however the league match was. Also pretty sure it was the match in which Simon Garner broke the league goals record of the great Tommy Briggs - a record which stands to this day and one which even Alan Shearer didn't break!

Yes I'd agree that the odds are it is for the league fixture at Ewood on April 15th 1989, the match was all-ticket as both teams were involved in the promotion race. I'll gloss over the scoreline... Laughing

The Simod Cup tie was advertised in City's programme as pay on the gate for terracing, the price of £3 was (surprisingly) the same as for the league match. Crowds were 5,793 for the Simod, 16,727 for the league game.
