It is a interesting idea. I guess they are looking at doing what the free morning papers do in London.

However what is the betting that the greedy ebayers get there early and go around and hoover them all up, that said if anyone wants to get me one....

Easy enough to arrange at the turnstiles - Everton handed out a special edition teamsheet last season at the turnstile. Anyone wanting to buy a surplus one can pay for them separately.

A good opportunity to beef the programme up with several adverts (and charge more for them..)

Everton sell around 10,000 per game. So if they were able to "guarantee" 3.5 times the demand for the programme they could presumably increase the ad rates as well for the one-off event, although obviously not by the same proportion and not (particularly) to regular advertisers - but it would be something worth considering in the long run..

would collectors want a programme that was solely used to support advertising although i can see the attraction for clubs ? with larger runs supported by adverts would this decrease the interest and therefore value of these programmes to collectors

Does anyone else remember when playing League games on a Sunday began, and clubs werent sure if it was egal to charge for watching a game, so you had to pay to buy the programme, which happened to cost the price of usual admission, and then you got into the game for free.
Sort of the same, but the other way round (ish)

Might need to stuff a few spare programmes down their pants to avoid a painful caning from the boss - 6 of the best now!

I've often thought that throwing a programme away is a crime.
