Big Debate 4 moves onto Man Citteh - surely now one of the least popular teams in football.

The team of Bell, Summerbee and Franny (on the turf) Lee... Malcolm Allison and Joe Mercer - oh and 35 years without a trophy if you want to remind their new fans

It's a shame it's come to this cos many people have always had a soft spot for them.. and they have some great loyal fans and a fine tradition of good football .. so over to you

As a local Manchester United fan who is constantly told by my blue bretheren that all City fans are from Manchester and United fans are not,I would like to pose the question then why only just over 28,000 attended
the Eastlands Cup tie? Stoke brought a sizeable following so where were all the locals? As an aged fan who in the 50s ,and 60s went to Old Trafford one week Maine Rd the next,to see some good football each week.,my only irritation is that the Blue half? of Manchester perpetuate the myth that all their fans are local.Other than that I have no" axe to grind "with Manchester City.Good luck to them.
United have 23 supporters club branches in the Greater Manchester area by the way. Smile

I would like to see City win nothing as I dont want money to prove that it will buy success, I personally feel that there are many City fans that go to Eastlands week in week out that arent from Manchester.

Like most I have had a bit of a soft spot for City. They play in blue and have lived in the shadow of their red neighbors for years. (God I know that feeling) Now they have loads of money that has changed. They will become just like all the other (so called) big teams. When that happens a lot of people will be likely to become City haters.

Growing up in Lancashire in the 70's, I had a bit of a soft spot for City. What has annoyed me about them in recent times is kind of what Ken has said, they tried to come across as a community club. Now that they have sold out, I would have expected their fans to be embarrassed, but they seem to be proud of it. None of us can control what the hierarchy of our clubs do, but we can voice our opinions against them, yet City fans don't seem to have done that. Would be interested to hear from any City fans on here what they think about the takeover.

City won't be hated by other teams until they win the league or FAC etc.
like chelsea.
Embarrassed... no way, we would all like our owners to have plenty of money.
People who should be embarrassed are all supporters (including me) who club has sold out to the foreigners plus all the non british players playing in our leagues. (thats another story.............)

Not bothered really. It's nice to see some other teams challenging the monopoly at the top of the PL but, like with Chelsea, I'm not particularly keen on them since they've just done it by spending loads of some foreigner's money.

Dont speak for me, thanks.

If my club got a rich owner who threw money at us to get us into the league I would stop supporting the club. It is not the sort of football that I choose to watch week in, week out. I would find another club to spend my social time at that was true to my values

I agree, why would we all want our owners to have loads of money? If I wanted to play that game, I'd get my monopoly board out!
