In my recent trawls for first & last I saw a Kingstonian being sold as last at Kingsmeadow. I knew that they groundshared with Wimbledon so wondered what was all this about?
For any that do not know Kingsmeadow was the home of Kingstonian from 1989, until their ground was sold by administrators to the Khlosa fanily. When Wimbledon were reformed in 2002 they needed a home and bought the lease for £2.4 m. Kingstonian were left high and dry but Wimbledon allowed them to continue to play their homes there for a peppercorn rent. This arrangement continued until June last year when Chelsea bought the ground from Wimbledon as they wanted somewhere for their academy and ladies' teams to play! Wimbledon are now allowed to continue using the ground The money is to facilitate Wimbledon to develop and return to their 'home' in Plough Lane.
The above is the reason why Kingstonian have had to go but in fairness to Wimbledon they have given them £1m mostly ringfenced to enable them to get a new stadium.
Apparently some Kingstonian fans, unhappy at their leaving said they were collateral damage and compared Wimbledon to MK Dons as being their nemesis! A bit harsh that methinks. Most of the above is taken from a recent article on the Guardian website.

When I was at the Wimbledon v Rochdale game last month, some Kingstonian fans were in the ground protesting. They are going to be playing at Leatherhead next season.

Don't mean to be harsh, but this is nothing to do with badges

Yes it's nice to see the badge section busy, but it'd be nicer still if it were about badges. That's two visitors we've had today.

Banning and suspension is too lenient .Make slightfold listen to One Direction every day for one whole year. Surely then he will see the error of his ways. Make the punishment fit the crime, that's what l say.
