The programme is falling apart, tear on front page, all pages are present but it's in a bad way. Duncan Edwards has signed the centre page, on top of his name. This has been authenticated (with certificate). Any ideas on value (can't find anything on Ebay)?

If you have anything else besides the items that you have mentioned can you send me a PM or write to me at [email protected] perhaps i can assist or pricing/purchasing if they are indeed to be offered for sale.

I have a few bits and pieces re Manchester United already-here are some of them at www.flickr.com/photos/manchesterunitedman1/sets

The programme in good condition is currently worth about £15 and this is clearly not in good condition.
However a Duncan Edwards autograph is worth anything from probably £10 up to £40 depending on its clarity etc.
I would look at it with a more clinical eye and see how it might be mounted, possibly with a magazine picture.
That will likely get you the most money.
However if you don't fancy that effort i would put it on ebay on a free listing day, emphasising the autograph only and start at £15 and see where it goes.

Good & Sound Advise for sure, but that is what i would expect from a mature and experienced collector Ray.

Yes Leslie it is indeed me

I listened and agreed to all the comments made prior to my ban
I came back,as many do,and mostly watched

I try to give help to unsuspecting newbies who have found rare items and get inundate wiih "pm sent" followed by "an offer they can't refuse" in the opinion of the offerer that is!!
Let's face it that's what this forum claims to be all about isn't it.Kind helpful people promoting the hobby
I have helped several over the last few months without one pm of "what else have you got?"
I presume all members of this forum would do the same.
At least i hope you will!!
That is what you claim you are about
Kind helpful souls with a wealth of experience just helping others
So now having opened myself up will the moaners speak for my ban again or will you recognise a reformed character just helping the hobby like you all want to do
Up to you guys to decide!!

For what it's worth.....your response to the Portsmouth v Utd 46-47 thread was much appreciated by this poster/user. I won,t dwell on past "issues" but would just reliterate that this is a cracking forum with great knowledgable members (like yourself) who can contribute positively to this fantastic hobby no matter which team they support, what they collect or how big or small individual budgets are!! Remember that and I can't foresee any "issues"......welcome back.

I would like to pick up on the valuation of £15 in good condition given by Ray. If the programme is from the 52/3 season ( dated 25/3/53) then it is one of the hardest Tottenham post war aways to find and even in the current market a good condition copy would probably fetch in excess of £200 at auction. I can only assume that the fact it was a mid week game with an attendance of 20000 may have something to do with making this a hard programme to find for collectors of both clubs. This is in no way a criticism of Ray's helpful comments but just pointing out my own experiences in trying to pick up this programme for my collection.

You are totally correct.
I just presumed it was a standard 1952/53 issue without realising it was a 4 pager
If indeed it is a 4 pager then current market value for a good copy is about £250.
That would throw a different light on my opinion.
At that point i would consult Eamonn at programme preservations to see if the programme could be repaired without affecting the autograph.
A small investment might bring you a healthy return

I had one for sale on ebay about a month ago, it was in an excellent condition and sold for £450. It was a midweek match but the main reason for the scarcity is that the kick off was at 3pm!! so the crowd was low at 18,384 to see United scrape home 3-2 and many never bothered to get a programme, i guess a number had to skip work and plenty could not perhaps even though they worked in Trafford Park. Same situation in the same season when United met Newcastle United in the FA Charity Shield, a daft 5.15pm kick off arranged, but the Tottenham game at 3pm was crackers! and the Charity Shield is another few hundred quid!. Wave

There is another copy of the MU v Tottenham H 1952-3 4 page programme on ebay for sale at £785!- i think that this price is completely extreme and judging by the fact no takers for the last few months-my copy had no writing on but the other one has team changes and scores inside, but the seller is convinced he will find a home for it at this price as there has been no reduction, i did have mine higher but could see if i wanted a sale i would need to drop a little to secure one.
