Being a Manchester City supporter I haven't until recently had much to shout about.

I remember going as a 7yr old in my first season and we won the league.

I remember going to Wembley in 69 70 74 76 as a boy and 81 as a 21yr old all with varying degrees of success.

And all this before the digital age and smart phones to capture the moment.

After 81 there were long years in the wilderness without a sniff of success.

There are two modern photo's that stick out in my mind which defined a moment in time and influenced the importance of the match involved.

They became Iconic pictures to me.

If anyone has seen the film 'Sliding Doors' where there's two different outcomes to an instance/choice that takes you down one path or the other for better or worse then these are City's.

Dickov's goal against Gillingham 1999 play off final which after being 0-2 down got us the win in the end. (Doubt our current owners would have invested if we were still in Div 1) This goal was pivotal in our future.

And

The Drama of Aguero's winner in the final seconds of the last match which lifted the title.

I was there at both matches.

Does anyone else have Iconic pictures for their own club's fortunes?

It's not about quantity Leslie.

It's the quality of the moment captured in time.

After all millions of United fans worldwide were expecting nothing less.

I give you 1968 though because it was what Busby wanted to achieve and could have been yours 10 years previously.

Dave

EVERY one of those moments from 1907-8 was quality!

and the photos posted were all high drama matters-did you know United did the treble in 1908 and well as 1999
that was another magic moment-please do not be bitter about it all

Leslie

I'm not Bitter each fan of their respective club has moments (hence this post/thread) like this.

I'm not saying your's are any less, but they are certainly not Trumps as you put it. just because you won more.

I get equal enjoyment from our success as you do with yours.

Before this totally descends into a United v City thread I'll stick a few "iconic" Palace photos on, bearing in mind our humble little club was rarely visited by photographers till about 1964 and even then most action shots involve our goalkeepers.

Promotion from Div 3, 1964 (first time since 1925) - and home defeat to Oldham robs us of the title

Promotion from Div 2, 1969 (first time ever) - victory v Fulham

Alan Pardew has scored the goal that takes Palace to an FA Cup Final for the first (and so far, only) time in our history (1990) - and victory over Liverpool who 6 months earlier beat us 9-0.

Two photographs that tell their own story about my (our) Club.....

I think you all know what happened from 2008 on-wards or should I say down-wards!!

The fact the Club survived is down to many people and I would like to take this opportunity to make special mention about the Portsmouth Supporters Trust Chairman Ken Malley who was suddenly taken ill last week and sadly passed away yesterday afternoon. Ken was not only a Pompey Fan and a very active Trust member from its birth he was also an active member of the football supporters federation. Both Portsmouth FC and Football in general have lost a true gentleman. My thoughts are with his family and friends at this difficult time. PUP.

For Blackpool followers it has to be Stanley Matthews delivering the cross for the winning goal in the 1953 FA Cup Final.
