Reserve still not met, despite being reduced.

Nice and very rare programme.

I know Richard who is selling this and he pays alot so i suspect its going to be £2,000... I had a QPR v Thames Ironworks (West Ham) 15 years ago and got £3.000 for it..

Lovely programme and got to be worth at least £2500 to someone I would think.

With this being a bit of a special item, and with it only being 4 pages, you would think the seller could have scanned the rest of it.

After all extra photos are now free.

...at least the postage is free Very Happy

I wouldn't have the balls to charge postage on any individual programme that sold for over £50 but some go way over the top.

If he's put a reserve on it and that stupid comment at the end, why not put it on at £2,250 or whatever the reserve is???

Just wasting everyone's time, including his own if he starts low and still has a reserve!
It's worth what someone or several people are willing to pay.

Had the same issue with a rugby league seller a few weeks ago. In the end I got three items worth (to me and at auction £550+) for £290...

seller happy as he inherited them years ago and i'm happy filling gaps in my pre war collection...and no pain in the arse eBay / paypal fees!!!

Possibly crossed the sellers mind that if he scanned the complete programme loads of people would add it to their 'online collection' and his real McCoy would be a tad less desirable at the price? I would have liked to have seen all of it too!

Confused

In addition, if I was intending on bidding for this programme I would put in a low bid first so that it hopefully doesn't get pulled and then whack in my proper bid of what I'm happy to pay in the last few seconds. Obviously with regard to this example we don't know how many different bidders make up the 43 bids as it's private but as I think Leslie once commented, why show your hand early?

The seller may have also started low with a high reserve in the hope that if the top bid doesn't meet the reserve he may be able to then sell to the top bidder for somewhere between the two prices - Doesn't even have to be via eBay then either.

Clearly then a "bit pricey" and also not for members on this forum at the required asking price

I don't think you can really say that Treble as it depends whether it's anything that anyone on here wants. Maybe pushing £2K is outside a lot of many collectors' price range, except for yourself and a few others! Still it is a fantastic item and I believe worth its money IMO.

I totally agree

I was tongue in cheek
If it was Manchester United related from that period i would be more than a little interested

To not be able to afford something is a fact of life all of us live with,me included

It just amuses me when non collecting collectors or the 99p fish and chip shop merchants are interested enough to give an uninformed decision on the value of something on sale at an auction or similar

surely its worth its last traded price, not some figure what the bidding stopped at?

the truth of the matter is it did not sell, so its true value is not yet known

I commented before that this item would do better in a major auction house, of which mine would be one of them

I can think of three clients at least who would not have the time or the inclination time to scour ebay etc

The last traded price is a strong guideline especially if it was a recent achieved price

The problem with many is that they want all of everything

They don't think realistically that it is better to pay 10% on a hammer price of £3000
They would rather pay nothing but don't realise they got nothing

Also you are not a good example as you are in an envious position of owning one of the largest and most established auction houses in the country
Not every auction house will achieve what you would be capable of achieving

However carry on too long with this thread and somebody will accuse you of being self important
It might only be somebody who posts twice a year on important and interesting things

Brian White, 49, a part-time telemarketer from Romford, has already bought an Arsenal v Stoke 1972 FA cup semi-final programme. He said:

“I began collecting football programmes when I was 14; I now have more than 15,000. International fairs like this one are really useful for people looking to fill gaps in their collection.”

I find it odd that he's only just picked up the one mentioned when he's already got 15k...I'd imagine that most serious collectors on here would be embarrassed to mention such a fact.
