Given the forum has been running fairly rudderless for a while (or so it appears), can we have some clarity on who continues to "own" the forum, and more importantly who actively moderates it?

TT.
Craig owns it.
I try and delete any spam, though there hasn't been quite so much recently.
Of course I am bound to miss some.

What about actual moderation of posts (not spam)?

This thread does not cover the forum in any glory whatsoever with some of its posts directed at a new member;

http://www.footballprogrammecentre.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?p=91619#91619

It's not the first time either. The forum is becoming a rather unwelcome place for new members, sadly.

I use the above post as an example of what is putting people off from using the forum.

Two things I never thought I would say....
Come on Liverpool..... and I agree with Bazza!
Especially after 1968!!
I think some posters / members need to lighten up a bit!!!

Well the impression created on that thread has lead to the new member thinking that some comments are "....just very rude and malicious".

That is the impression this person has got of this forum after a handful of posts, acceptable? I think some forum members need to wind their necks in and stop continually trying to be smart arses.

It's not the first time and no doubt, it wont be the last either, hence my query about forum moderation.

Come on Tynie has a point.

New members or already existing members who chose to post and as such contribute shouldn't expect to be accused and/or belittled.

If you don't have anything positive to contribute then surely it is best to lay off the keyboard.

I'll leave you both to your insular world then you need to get into the 20th century if not the 21st!
This is what all media sites are like these days
The original poster was taking the mick out of us .....
I didn't want to open it because it was fragile... come on !!!
Think this site isn't for me I'll leave you to it!

Insular?

If asking for common decency towards a new member is seen as backward and insular, then I think it's you that has the problem with using 21st century social media.

If you thought anyone was "taking the mick" then you either ignore, or let a moderator deal with it [which was the point of this thread, to establish who moderates it], just like any other 21st century forum.

Well I stand by my original post. A lot of people ask for valuations and get the hump when they find out their programme aren't worth much. It's understandable. Have you ever watched antiques roadshow ? Bazza throws in a little sarcasm and it winds them up more. Laughing
I have known some very very rude 1st time posters. It's not a one way street.

Wullie, did this poster in question get upset? no. Was this poster very very rude? no. Were they perhaps taken aback by some posts and said so? yes. So forgive me if I miss the point you're trying to make.

It normally goes something like this.
"Hi, I wonder if you guys can help ? I have just been left in a will an amazing collection of Liverpool programmes. The oldest is amazingly from 1966 v Everton and there must be at least 60 programmes in the collection. One is even signed by Steve Highway. What I’m asking , what do you guys think this lot will bring at auction ?"

Answers . Sod all. Worthless crap. Burm then mate.

"Well I came on the forum ""expecting”” ( get it ) a civil answer. My cat has just died, the wife left me and I was only trying to raise some money for a weekend in Blackpool."

Apart from that I think the forum is very good . I love "on this day" scans. It is very informative. I have found out a ton of information from people on here. I know I can ask almost any question and will get a brilliant answer within days. No sarcastic rudeness. As I say, it's a two way street.
