Hi all,

Paul Fraser Collectibles is holding a "Dutch Auction" where the price of selected items will drop until somebody buys it. Included is a menu signed by all 22 members of the 1966 England squad:

How long can you wait before somebody else snaps it up?

Joe

Have to admit, it's not that often that Bazza and I are on the same unequivocal wavelength, but that's a complete and utter load of shite. If you want to try and tempt folk onto something like that at least be professional about it and don't try and insult people's intelligence with your prices. Fly by nights, don't you just love 'em?

Agreed about the starting price but in this type of auction it is not where you start but where you finish.

Thing is Martino, he's got the starting price at nearly £4k, so it's going to take thousands of bids to get it down to a reasonable level, otherwise someone's going to be left with a huge bill to pay. A dishonest practice to my way of thinking.

Can't beat going to a live auction, seeing all your pals and adversaries, clenching teeth and buttocks, into the fray, biting, screaming, using the eyes, false stories about keen on this or that, giving other false ideas and signals, positioning yourself so you can see who is bidding against you or running you up[besides the auctioneer] and that is before you get into the room! hahah

Some auctioneers have more bids off the wall than they have genuine ones, racing up the numbers and then dropping it in your lap and the hammer goes down, i get done every time whether i am there or not, whether i have someone bidding for me or not as that is how they make their brass it is that simple slick and fast and before you know it you are the proud owner, still if we didn't want to be there we would stay at home and watch the soaps.

Now as regards this new style of selling-for me it is total bollocks that is my take.
