Hi,

I'm looking for any Desborough Town FC programmes anyone might be willing to sell.

I'm mostly after away programmes involving Desborough but I still require some home's namely from the 1979/80 season or before. I'm also after a copy of the 89/90 FA Cup tie with Lye Town if anyone has that also.

Finally I am only able to purchase items via postal order so apologies to anyone who might be able to help me but do not accept this method of payment.

Either send me a PM or e-mail me on [email protected] if you can help.

Thank you.

If my memory serves me right, wasn't there someone (under the guise of something like Yaxley Publications?) that produced many of the programmes for clubs in the United Counties League in the mid 70's such as Stewart & Lloyds, Ramsey Town, Bourne Town, Desborough Town, Irthlingborough Diamonds etc.,

I can recall that all of the programmes were almost identical in format (four page efforts with the centre-pages information typed in an identical typeface and run off on a Gestetner machine), so I was just wondering if anyone one here had a copy from that era and whether a contact name/address might be thereon. I realise it's almost 40 years ago but it might be a starting point.

Rob Bazley's got some Desborough Town programmes from that era on his website: (see Bourne Town for example)

The company you are referring to is Acorn Publications who were based in Yaxley. You could always tell which programmes were from this company due to their size and also because their address was printed on the bottom of the back cover.

I suspect they stopped producing programmes in the early 1980s as a Holbeach v Desborough programme from 1983 announced that the company was moving "into new fields" and they said that the issue was the last they would produce for Holbeach. The company had moved to March by that time.

Acorn publications prior to Yaxley were based at Stilton. They were also programme dealers in the early to mid 70s. I remember as a kid gong round to their house and buying a few programmes. I believe they also printed the programme for an Irish club v Southampton, possibly Carrick Rangers?!

A new seller has just started listing Desborough Town 1940's/1950's programmes on Ebay. I'm sure that they are the same programmes that a different seller was selling last year, it's maybe the same person you are referring to.
