The game was played on 25th september 1968....off the top of my head i don't think you would have change out of £5,000..
Im sure treble99 or manchesterunitedman1 will be along and give you the upto date valuation and also a scan on their flicker sites...
With something like this i'll leave it to the experts! |

You won't get much change out of 10k for an original. I believe that they weren't on sale at the game but just given out to officials etc..
Probably pick up a decent reprint for £20. |

They were available to the press.
The programme came in a press pack which was a hard binder.
Inside was a programme,a team sheet,2 Shell maps(in spanish and english),A booklet about the Estudiantes country club and a team photo of the Estudiantes team.
I think you are very high at £10k especially in this recession.
I wouldn't pay anywhere near £10k as i didn't pay anywhere near that for my existing set and that included everything else named above.
Also Leslie already owns this programme as well and he may already have more than one.
I obviously can't speak for what he would pay though if another surfaced
.
The market place for those who need it and can afford this item is very narrow, again especially in this economic climate.
It is however a signficant programme that doesn't appear very often and does have a serious value.
The reprint price you are also out on.
I did the reprint in 2002(200 copies) and have 40 copies left at £10 each and that includes postage.
Send me a pm if you want one |

I was in Argentina last week and searched high and low for the programme, there are over a hundred book shops in Buenos Aires and i went to most of them (Ask the Mrs). I showed most of them the copy of the cover.
One chap showed me a ticket for the game but he would not part with it, he said he has never saw a programme.
I mananged to pick up some El Grafico magazines for the game and a small poster advertising the game. (Listed on Ebay).
I picked up a lot of El Grafico magazines 1950s football pennants and also a lot of Press Photo's on Films and The First World war (Very cheap).
It wont be long before some Estudiantes v Man United programmes come up on ebay once they know about the price in Argentina..
PS ...Brazil is also a gold mine for buying Football Memorabilia at cheap prices. |

Is the poster actually a poster?
Without checking my Grafico's i have a recollection that this was an advert page in one of them.
I think it is an advert for the TV channel that they showed the game on.
I remember when there was a panic over the Grafico's.
They used to sell for a fortune as well as the Grafico's from the year before which covered Celtic.
Eventually ebay opened up and tehre are thousands of them
They are effectively Argentina's version of Charles Buchan's Football Monthly and every football fan got one.
They are on sale in all the Argentinian books markets |

The grafico's i have do indeed feature the tv advert for the game.
There was also a lp on ebay in argentina which featured the commentary of the game and if i remember correctly a club song..
Still prefer the Stretford ends song though;
Estudiantes we'll pull down your panties
and smack you the colour of our shirts!

Believe it or not, I have just now ot around to viewing Treble99 & Les's Flickr sites. As a United fan since 1958, it must be a dream to have so many fabulous items. The best I could manage was every home programme from 1956 to 2004. I stopped collecting then because I became so disillusioned by modern programmes which seemed to have no soul.
That is not to say that I have given up on the hobby. The friends I have made, particularly since the advent of the internet, still make it a worthwhile pasttime. And lets face, we are all always looking for the little gem that might pop up occasionally.
Looking forward to contributing to more subjects. |
