Nice programme. Look forward to your other listings.

I notice that you have p/p charges of £3.50 and this is marked as 'Standard Delivery' on the listing yet you have a stainless steel Manchester United plaque with p/p costs of £1.25.

Can you confirm if the charges of £3.50 cover any sort of enhanced postage or just normal 1st or 2nd class delivery.

Hi, If you have any Huddersfield Town programmes I may be interested.

Just to add, do not worry if you do not see much interest in bidding for some of your more collectable items as most the "real" bidding happens just before the listing is due to end.

You will be able to see the number of "watchers" on your E Bay summary which may give an indication of the level of interest.

We have had numerous newcomers on the forum offering programmes , but i have yet never ever bought a single item off any of them. Basically they are fishing for prices, members are fishing for bargains and it all ends in a slagging match , with the programmes ending up on Ebay.

Well done that man you have bids up to £2.70 already ......................however i recon E-Bay willl ban you soon as you will get terrible feedback ....LOW if not negative .....and you will fall below the standard that they demand nowadays, and the reason ??? asking for £3.50 to cover recorded delivery that actually costs just £1.55 . . . plus 10p for the envelope maybe ...........but wait a min .......you do have a feedback of 108 already on E-Bay , and so you would not seem to be a novice as you implied .......

Hi there , as you have a feedback of 108 on e-bay already you must know that its IMPOSSIBLE to change any details/costs of the item once a bid has been submitted ....... Unless you remove it altogether and start again that is ???????????

Didn't realise it had a bid at the time, but I checked and i did put the postage as 1st class recorded anyway, I also put it in the description part at the bottom. Does it still say standard delivery for you? I

If it was my item I would end the auction early and re-list it with the correct amount of postage ....... as when the invoice is created as it stands it willl be for £3.50 worth of postage .... With it showing £3.50 of postage it will also put people off from bidding .. . . and whoever wins it will possibly give you LOW marks for cost of postage ...... Recomendation ; End It Now . . . and Re-List it

There is nothing to stop you doing one of two things or both in fact.
You can add a note to the bottom of the listing saying you have made a mistake with the postage and the charge will be ???
OR
you can send a note to the seller as soon as the auction ends and advise of a reduced postage and invoice accordingly.
That will get you a good reaction.
Clearly you are not a novice to ebay but you may well be a novice to football programmes.
Don't worry about the "if it was my programme" comment and the plain bitching comments.
It is not their programme. It is your programme and YOU can do what YOU like and YOU will make a profit that hopefully is fair
As i say the people on this forum who will try to help you is minimal.
Most here are pissed off that you got at least one gem that they didn't and they can't now chip it out of you for a quid.
It just goes to show the attitude when they tell you that you can get a (hard card envelope) for 10p.
I'll take 1000 please!!!

Equally to be fair we do indeed get plenty of timewasters on here as well.

Good luck with your auction.

By the way it will now probably get nasty on here as previously mentioned as a lot don't like the truth

What was a saying last week about here being good people on this forum? Confused
Come on treble the majority are helpful, please don't give the wrong impression because one forum member has taken his ball home, what you have stated on his thread is true so far but the last comment seems to tar us all, check out the feedback thread to see plenty of satisfied members and exchanges/deals struck.
You are right though that in this case ebay was the only option as there was no way a deal could be struck....

Can we all go back to being happy again? Smile

Am fairly ambivalent about it all, but I think it's just symptomatic of how much this forum has changed since it's early days. It's certainly evolved into a much more predatory arena, and there's rarely anything of interest to myself (and I know others of longstanding membership on here) because the items being sought, sold, or asked for advice on, are the more modern issues. That's life though I suppose, and there's little point in trying to turn the clock back as times move on.

We used to get the odd wind up merchant on here even in the beginning, but they were the exception to the rule. What certainly has changed is the inability of some posters on here to be tolerant of others, for whatever reason, and that's a real concern. Once the Forum loses it's friendliness / camaraderie I think it's on a long slippery slope.

Who said anything about buying a NEW Hard backed Envelope for 10p......... You can re-use an old envelope and put the side of a cornflake packet in it for NOTHING at all ........ the 10p was just for his time .....

Yo may be one of the moneybags brigade ( with a name like treble99 ) but everyone else outside the top 4 of the Premiership has to count the pennies you know, and after alls said and done £3.50 for a first class recorded envelope, is extorsion ........ unless as you and i have already said , the amont is corrected.
I suspect however that when the auction ends the amount will be included in the invoice and there will be no other option than to pay the winning amount PLUS the £.50 . From memory I do not think you can change the postage amount once the sale has been completed and the invoice raised ........I may be wrong and bow to superior knoledge if i am ....

Several points here.

What has the fact that Manchester United are one of the top four premiership clubs got to do with posting a sodding programme.
He can indeed use a cornflake packet but i hope he doesn't list and sell all 500 plus programmes or he'll be looking for the honey monster to help with the cornflakes packet!!
Where the hell is he going to find 500 plus old, arsewiped already used enveloped to save a couple of pennies and before you tell me you were only talking about one at the moment it is not everybody that has even one old envelope lying around.
Some people don't live in houses with ild envelopes lying around.
I do but unless you collect or deal in programmes or similiar it is quite likely that you throw away crappy envelopes.
You must be a posties nightmare if you use envelopes over and over.
I have received a few programmes over the years in reused envelopes.
It makes me cringe.
There are address label's on top of address labels and half of them are half torn off.
It would only take one label to peel off and it would be like a chain letter to see who actually receives it.
I have a recollection where an old established dealer and an old collector had such a problem where one programme thus packed didn't turn up and they ended up falling out about whose fault it was and whose decision it was to give it more chance of getting lost than usual.

Final note on the postage and packing bit
"Who said anything about buying a NEW hard card backed envelope"
Err actually you did.
I have posted YOUR quote above
You say 10p for the envelope maybe. You don't mention 10p for his time converting an old envelope.

Final note on the postage costs.
Of course they are excessive but he has claimed he has made an honest mistake and therefore until proven otherwise i accept it is a genuine mistake.

Now onto your undertones on his ebay trading where you imply he might have more knowledge than he implies.
He never claimed to be an ebay novice.
He claimed to be a programme novice asking for help.
Check his feedback out.
He has sold one cheap football sign several times and never sold(or bought) anything remotely like a football programme so as such i believe he is a novice in football programmes.

As Auchinleckian says this forum has changed into a predatory arena where some posters have an inability to be tolerant of others.
Either help or be quiet should be the motto.
If you ignore timewasters they will go away but they don't deserve slaughtering and abusing do they?

Gentlemen,

The seller adjusted his postage price to £1.60 last night so I do not see any further issue.

I was the one who originally queried the postage rate and the seller dealt with the query perfectly acceptably.

As the programme is already up to £31 I am sure that even he has realised that eBay was the way forward in his case (as advised by another poster) and, whoever ends up winning the item, will also be a happy bunny I suspect.

I look forward to the other programmes being listed.

Smile
