As promised on an earlier posting today here are a few odds and ends re Manchester City I promised i would share, however there is an anniversary coming up that no REAL Manchester City Fan will want to be reminded off[well the ones who have become staunch fans these past 18 months will not understand this first image for sure]

on the 16th January 1964 which will be 48 years ago, City were at home to Swindon Town in the Second Division[after being relegated the previous season finishing one place below United who went on to win the FACup and have never looked back bar one season in 1973-4], anyway back to the stats, all those tens of thousand s of long standing who to this day are deluded in telling everyone "I was there, me too, yeh and me as well" is all bollocks, they weren't, as only 8,014 turned up plus one budding Red[moi] who stood on the terracing next to the main stand in the freezin cold and watched them get beaten again 1-2, take a look Mr. Sheik yer monies, take a look Balotelli, take a look Carlos the Jackall-this was not from humble beginings this was the pits, 8,105 paying punters........
Next we go back further to 1911 a City share certificate-pity it was no longer valid when the new dosh came town recently

Next up is an itinerary for City palyers and staff to travel to France and Italy, exciting times in Europe in those days!

Who would have thought old Thomas Cook would end up being owned by Germans eh!
Next we move sideways to Austria in 1933 as City were guests of FC Austria and an invitiation to Dinner-nothing Kosher on that menu I will bet Mr. Ickler

Let's all get home sharpish so we can play them again

And here is the total proof that City's "welcome to manchester" HAD BEEN DONE BEFORE AND I SPOT A CERTAIN MATHEW BUSBY AT RIGHT HALF THAT DAY FOR THE BLUES-Happy Days.

Great set of items there Les especialy the open terrace shot, recall standing there many times in the 60s with my two elder brothers watching City v Everton fixtures , one of my fondest was a game on Boxing Day 68, till this day it is the coldest i have ever been at a football match, remember Everton scoring two goals in the first minute and going on to win the game 2-1, always enjoyed my visites to the old ground , great memories.
Noz.

Some excellent items there, thanks for sharing. One little point of accuracy, the Swindon game you refer to was in 1965 not '64, I well remember seeing the terrace pic on the back page of the sunday paper. No, I wasn't there myself as I was an impoverished 10 year old at the time and had to pick and choose games! Very Happy

Some items for your perusal from my late Dads Manchester City memorabilia...

One of Dads contracts

The writing on this itinery is a note to my Mum !!I think he was added to the tour at the last minute.

This is Citys squad sat on the beach in Nice prior to playing Milan, They lost 5 - 0.

The teams on the pitch in Milan

Training in Vienna. My old fella leading the way!!

This Manchester Cup medal is not bad seeing they lost !!

This cartoon hangs on our stairs (its an odd shape!!) It was prior to Citys Cup Final victory over Portsmouth for which the old fella was cup tied as he had played for Bristol City in the Cup that season before his transfer to Maine Road.

The whole thing.
