Is anyone out there not only a programme collector but also a stats-fan? I am trying to find details of Northern Premier League games from 68/69 through to 76/77 (dates, scorers, attendances etc) and would love to hear from anyone who can suggest a source. Same goes for the Midland League (71/72 & 72/73). My interest is in Gateshead FC so I'd also be pleased to hear from anyone who might be able to supply info on 'their club' v Gateshead rather than an entire league!

Have you tried the Association of Football Statisticians?

You could also try one of the copyright libraries. I know that the Sunday Express always used to print the NPL attendances in each week.

Heed Boy

Whilst I appreciate this is off topic, as a stats man are you in a position to know whether Gateshead issued a programme for the FA Cup 2nd Rd replay against Newport County on 14th December 1949?

Regards Scott

Put a post on the history site of what was Tony Kempster's non-league site

www.nonleaguematters.co.uk

and I'm sure someone will be able to help you out.

Follow the link to his "old" forum, go into message board and you'll find the history section.

Wow, what a great response, thanks to everyone! To address the points individually;
Tynie Topics - the new stadium is still going ahead although the date for moving in has already moved back from the start of 2001/12 to 'sometime during' 2011/12. There hasn't been a spade stuck in the soil yet so don't hold your breath. If you know Gateshead at all the site is the old North Durham Cricket and Rugby Club ground directly opposite the new Civic Centre. Have a look at the club website, it has a tab for 'New Ground' and it looks great. Did you know the club has never had it's own ground, even Redheugh Park belonged to the Council?
MeaccPrprammesWanted - fantastic, thank you.
Auchinleckian - I've joined AFS Forum but you have to make 3 successful posts then wait 2 days before you can start a thread, so I'm in that limbo period! Thanks for the Sunday Express tip though.
upthecounty - sorry, I'm a post-1960 man! I'll add it to my 'look out for' list though.
maidonian - thanks, I'll do that. I've been on that site before, it's a good source of information.

Mnay thanks I would appreciate that. The consensus is that no programme was published. Folk in Newport find this hard to believe but some further ratification on the matter would be welcomed.
Kind regards Scott

Thanks for that Heed, it would be good to see Gateshead return to a "proper" football ground, although the capacity is a tad ambitious!
