I remember seeing Everton in action( away games) during the 1960s wearing a yellow and black strip. I had no idea Liverpool also once played in yellow shirts . This was against Accrington Stanley FA Cup 1956. Apparently the home team were obliged to change their shirt colour if it clashed with the away team in the FA Cup..

Was the same the case in European competitions - that the home team wears their away kit if there was a colour clash?

Dorking, I’m trying to think did Liverpool ever wear yellow shirts in a European game? If the Accrington game in 1956 was the only time , l wonder did any of those yellow shirts survive? Here’s another rare one. I know it’s been colourised, but it’s Dixie Dean ,nearest the goalie , playing for Sligo Rovers. It’s probably the only time Everton’s most famous player wore red and white, but l might be wrong
