It's my mam's hubby's birthday shortly, can anyone recommend a good, modern football book he'd like?

* Something covering nostalgia - ideally the 70s & 80s (he loves the "BackPass" mag for example)

* He's not big on reading so it would have to have a lot of pics.

* Not "Lost" (the 1980s grounds book, as I've already bought him that before)

Any help or suggestions would be very much appreciated, thanks.

Thanks very much Grantham, that could be right up his street, he's always going on about forgotten players from that era. Cheers pal, that might be just the thing I'm looking for.

Thumbs Up

No probs, if you are stuck for a present next year, there is a 2nd edition coming out covering the years 1986-1993 Smile

Already on my wishlist for October I think

Didn’t know there was one of these for the domestic game - a few years back I bought the panini World Cup book which had all the albums to 1998…mainly to get over the trauma of all the missing stickers from my Espana ‘82 album.

Only came out in October, so easily missed. Couple of minor printing errors, but overall a fantastic book

Bought the book last night, it was here at 10am this morning. I'm amazed how thick & heavy it is, weighs a ton! Very Happy

Had a flick through it, certainly brings back some memories of me in the playground clutching my "swapsies."

Brilliant book. Thanks again Grantham. Thumbs Up

The Damned Utd. The book is great and way better than the film.

Jock Morrisons autobiography

Obviously has Argyle stuff hence my interest but the later years where he is so honest about his predeliction to violence and addictive behaviousrsand overcoming them is powerful stuff.

The recent software update is absolutely fantastic! It has significantly improved the performance and user experience. The new features are intuitive and make navigation much smoother. I especially appreciate the enhanced security measures that come with this update. It's clear that a lot of thought and effort went into this release, and it definitely shows. For anyone looking to stay on top of their tasks efficiently, this update is a game-changer. Also, for those interested in academic assistance, check out this great resource: https://essaypro.com/buy-college-essay . It's a lifesaver for students needing quality essays!

Thanks for the information!

Whilst not packed with nostalgia, the above title only available from Amazon for £6.99

It's a book for the individual (not prone to cheating) or a group of friends and their question-master giving nothing away as they put their cumulative detective skills to the test in search of English and Scottish Premier League clubs combined with those of the Football League.

The reader will do well getting past the first page without clues or peeping at the 104 answers.

I defy anyone to go through all of the clues successfully without a little help or cheating!!!!!

When Footballers Were Skint - Jon Henderson

Read it in around the pool in Portugal. Excellent.

I got my dad When Football Was Football by Michael Heatley for his birthday last year, and he absolutely loved it. It's packed with loads of photos from the 60s, 70s, and 80s, so it really hits that nostalgia sweet spot. He’s not much of a reader either, but he enjoyed flipping through the pictures and reading the short captions.
