We are moving (again) and I have no room for my collection of programmes, so I have taken the bold decision to sell them.
Basically I have pretty much everything Ipswich Town home & away from 1960- 2015.
League & Cups
European
Friendlies & Testimonials
Reserves & Youth
Good selection of tickets
Internationals, Full/U23 represented by an Ipswich player
Many of them are extremely rare, which I will probably attempt to put on eBay, but the postage is prohibitive as always as I am in Canada
How would fellow members on here recommend me selling them. I have a pretty good idea of values, but the postage is the biggest issue

Have you got a trusted friend/family member who could post them from the UK for you? As 10% of your collection probably holds 90% of the cash value focus on that and write off the modern/worthless stuff

You could still do all the eBay listings from Canada but set your location to UK and it should work

Thanks for the reply

I do have family members in the UK but the problem is I would need to bulk package sales up and then send to them, for them to repost, but that would take probably twice as long.
The major issue is that selling them and then putting xGBP for postage could put people off?

Canada Post is quite good and they do have an international tracking system which I would naturally use for the more valuable programmes, but that would probably be in the region of £20 per order. Do I increase the cost and offer free postage? or would people be prepared to pay an extra £20 on a £100 programme (knowing it would be posted from North America?

Your problem as well is VAT/customs duty which eBay collects and it's essential to send everything by insured post

What I was getting at was

- Deliver your whole collection (or at least the valuable parts worth selling) to your relative in UK
- Before doing that scan/photograph everything you plan to sell
- Make a reliable list with notes of the condition of each programme/ticket

Once all this has done you start selling - everything is already in the UK and you just need to ask your relative to send this programme to that person

Most of your league programmes from 1970s onwards are effectively worthless - just bin them. The cost of sending them to UK will far outweigh their value

I can't speak for others but I can't imagine buying anything from Canada unless it was particularly rare

There is no UK VAT on football programmes, and if eBay tries to charge that then you can claim it back from them.

I buy programmes from all over the world, if they're of the rarer variety then the postage is worth paying normally.

So I would list your rarer ones yourself on eBay, but as Sid said the run-of-the-mill stuff is probably more hassle than it's worth to try and sell from Canada.
