I had a letter from Eamonn today and he has informed me that now that he has reached retirement age and not being well he has after 42 years trading he has reluctantly closed his business .
Just like to say what a fantastic job he done for me with the various items I sent to him over the years his work was always first class . |

An artist albeit in a different form, a very talented man, wishing him a happy retirement.
Just hope someone as good if that is at all possible steps in! |

His retirement leaves a gaping hole in the collecting community. I wish him well and the best of health and hope he's happy putting his feet up. He may find he's busier than ever!
Good luck and thank you, Eamonn. (I need to disable the link on my website!) |

Happy retirement to Eamonn, an exceptional craftsman.
As has been said though, a gaping hole that needs to be filled, nobody at all now specialising in restoring programmes, posters etc that I am aware of. _________________ https://www.flickr.com/photos/footballprogrammes/albums |

I watched the Repair Shop on BBC1 last night.
Someone brought in what looked like a 100+ year old passport, I think it was actually some sort of travel log/document for someone who worked on cruise ships.
The whole thing was falling apart, all the pages were loose etc, and they got a book restorer in to do the repair, and what he did was incredible.
He showed all of the process, and it really was meticulous and a fantastic result. How he reattached pages with fine tissue and a hot iron tool was just fascinating.
I don't know if he'd do programmes, but certainly old yearbooks with detached covers would be a distinct possibility
Well worth a watch if you use BBC iplayer |
