Marine AFC v Everton “B”: 27.12.1947

Calling all Everton or Marine fans.

Below is a Selection card for a Mr W.Woan to play in the above match.

The card refers to a Cup Semi Final, I guess it’s Liverpool something?

Can anyone help?

I've had a look but haven't been able to find any information about the game. Everton played Shamrock Rovers in a "Grand Match" on the 27th December 1947 at Goodison. In the Liverpool Senior Cup that season they played Southport in the semi-final and Liverpool in the Final, so it's possible they could have played Marine in an earlier round.

Marine played Nelson on 27.12.1947 winning 2-0.

I'm obviously not an Evertonian but as we know there was definitely the 1st team and Reserves and alongside them there was also Everton 'A' and Everton 'B'. Everton 'B' may have been a junior team and possibly it could have been Marine Reserves or even Juniors?

The following is in the Everton v Arsenal programme on 13th March 1948 -

" Next Saturday morning our Colts play Merrion Rovers, the Dublin team, at Goodison Park, and it will be a good test for them before their Minor Cup Final against St Sylvesters. Progress has been maintained in the Junior Cup and a win against Parr and Hardshaw next Saturday at Bellefield will see us in the semi-final."

So that's another two competitions that the game could have been from.
