I'm writing this post on behalf of my mum. This is a long story so I'll try and keep it as short as possible! Andy lane came to mums house in January this year and took away approx £4,500 worth of my late fathers cigarette card collection. My dad passed away very suddenly 3 years ago with a very quick 3 month aggressive battle with cancer. He died days after his 59th birthday. Mum and dad had been married 35 years. It took mum 3 years to part with this collection and it was very hard for her to do. Andy knew the history when he took the card collection in January 2016. The first auction was 7th March 2016 and mum spoke to Andy a week or so after this and he confirmed that "some" of the cards had sold at the auction, "about £500 worth". That was the last we heard from him. We tried every avenue possible to get hold of andy with no joy at all then we received the letter from the insolvency service. So not only does Andy owe mum approx £500 from the auction sale in March, we also have the issue of not knowing what has happened to the remaining £4000 approx worth of cards that Andy should still have that was due to be sold in another auction in June. Has he sold these on without our permission to make money for himself? We have been advised by Action Fraud that if he has already sold the remaining cards then he has committed fraud/theft. So presuming now we report this to his local police station or do we go to our local police station? We want to see this man punished for what he has done, particularly as it has affected so many people. It's not even the loss of money that is affecting us most emotionally, it's the fact that Andy has clearly stolen my dads card collection, knowing the story behind it and clearly not showing any remorse at all!! Mum feels like this is her fault and feels like she's let dad down, but I know it's not her fault. It's just very unfortunate that we all got caught up with this disgusting fraudulent man who clearly doesn't have a heart and doesn't give a shit about anyone except himself! When he visited mum in January he was gloating about looking forward to his 3 week Florida/Caribbean cruise in September 2016 which is now clear he has funded on our money! I'm sure everyone is as angry about this as we are but all we want is justice and to see this man punished for what he has done. Surely he can't get away with this??? Is this a story for the local/national newspapers? The more people that come forward about this, the better the case we have. I'm happy for anyone to contact me about this [email protected] |
I have been told by the liquidator he must return all unsold items to their rightful owners. I would send him a recorded letter asking for immediate return. Ring Wirrall Trading Standards, the number is on a previous post. If he does not return the items then it's simply theft. |

I just don't know how this man can sleep at night! Mum said she found out after the insolvency hearing that Andy is £178,000 in debt!!! How is this even possible when he doesn't have to buy anything for the business as he sells stuff for other people???! Clearly he's been a criminal living a luxury life for a long time! I hope this b@@@@rd gets what is deserved to him. I cannot stand people like this!! Sounds like he's conned far too many innocent people which just isn't fair! |
You are right. £178,000 was lost in one year or four auctions. It is simply mind boggling . He owes no rent on property . He doesn't buy stock. It is beyond believe

Mum has sent him text messages and left voicemails asking him to return the cards. His deadline date is tomorrow. It's at that point we weren't sure who to contact next. I will tell mum to contact Wirral Trading Standards first. Thanks |

A good idea. A closed thread sticky with details of addressees to contact.
Permanently on top of the forum for key points. Anyone finding this thread having lost money should be interested in everything said , but they could miss something . |
OK, I will give it a go, but I will post it on here first in case anyone has any comments:
Football Sport Auctions Limited, a company specialising in auctioning football memorabilia, ceased trading on 22nd April 2016 owing a large number of people a considerable amount of money.
The company is owned by Mr Andrew Lane, 13 Holm Lane, Prenton, Wirral, CH43 2HN Tel 07588 594664
There have been many allegations of fraudulent activity by the company including many promises of payment made by Mr Lane which have not materialised, along with the fact that Mr Lane was still accepting consignments for future auctions when he was unable to pay for items sold in previous auctions.
An alleged customer calling himself Gill James came on to this forum claiming that he had been paid in full for items sold in the March 2016 auction when many people had not been paid for the September 2015 auction.
As at today's date the company website is still active and still asking for consignments for future auctions.
The company is currently being liquidated and if you are owed money or goods by the company you should send details to the liquidators as follows along with any concerns about the company's conduct:
Stephen Penn/David Hines
Absolutely Recovery Ltd
Fisrt Floor, Block A
Loversall Court
Clayhills
Tickhill Road
Doncaster
DN4 8QG
Tel: 01302 572701
You should also contact the local Trading Standards office, which is:
Wirral Trading Standards
South Annexe
Wallasey Town Hall
Brighton Street
Wallasey
Wirral
CH44 8ED
Tel: 0151 691 8638
Fax: 0151 691 8098
You could also contact the police fraud service which is Action Fraud Tel. 0300 123 2040
If anyone has any comments on the above then please let me know. |

The liquidators are a waste of space. Don't even bother with them . Only ring them just to piss them off.
Good Luck

Amanda, on behalf of genuine football fans and collectors everywhere, can I please pass on our sincere apologies for this kind of thing happening? Words utterly fail me. |

Thank you so much everyone for your support and for this forum being posted. I've been 'googling' Andy lane for the past month or so and only just came upon this forum tonight. It's terrible this has happened but the support is comforting too. Words fail me too. Me and my family are such honest genuine people, like many in this world, that it shocks me that people like Andy can actually exist and do what they do! Let's just hope he gets what he deserves, i.e. time in prison! |

Three Cheers for the forum. Without the forum there would be no information at all about Mr Andy Lane. In fact you probably think he is still trading.

I just hope John , if this bloke ever shows his face again in collecting circles , people will remember this lady's story and treat him with the contempt he deserves. |

Agree 100%.
The stories I'm reading are not pretty. A con artist at work it seems. All for his own gain.
I hope that those still missing their unsold items get them returned ASAP. However, it doesn't sound too good that this will happen either. You wonder where the items of unsold goods are? Surely it should all be catalogued and itemised and that the, so called, professional liquidators can easily see whose items are whose? Then contact the owners to say we have their goods. Even if it means the owners paying postage. I'm sure they'll do that to get their items returned?
It's bound to get worse, more stories being told, before it gets better.
Keep at it and support each other in getting back your goods and fighting to see a return on your sale of goods.
I bet everything that is owned and where he lives is in the name of a family member too? That's how criminals work, allegedly...... _________________ Not Forgotten; Allwright, Greechan, Hagan, Kennedy, Littler, Purver, Robotham, Saunders, Shields

Spot on, this whole business - on the back of Cameo - does not paint the hobby in a very good light.
Regarding the unsold items which Lane is supposed to be returning, I assume nobody has received anything yet? in which case report it to Trading Standards asap and even ask C.A.B. or a solicitor as to what legal steps you can take to recover these items.
It may well be that he has sold them on "under the counter" and effectively stolen them, but I think some professional advice is required as to next steps.
The Liquidators are just in it for a quick buck, but keep at them. _________________ https://www.flickr.com/photos/footballprogrammes/albums |

All might be interested to know the Liverpool Echo is on the case. A number of people have contacted the news desk - and they're currently collecting statements.
This is where the relevant services might be called into action |

I phoned Liverpool Echo news desk this morning and the lady said they will do some research and call me back if they want to share the story. I have also just emailed Wirral trading standards with literally every possible bit of evidence they require, including the link to this forum! Liverpool Echo now also have a copy of the email and attachments!

So basically this guy walks in to your mums home. Takes away valuable items and you never see him or any money again. . What would you normally call that ? |
