Just seen Roy the boy's provisional squad for the Euro's and wondered what everybody thought.

Can't say I'm too convinced with some of the selections but then again what are the alternatives?

who would you leave out and who would you leave out?

Squad

Goalkeepers: Joe Hart (Manchester City), Fraser Forster (Southampton), Tom Heaton (Burnley).

Defenders: Gary Cahill (Chelsea), Chris Smalling (Manchester United), John Stones (Everton), Kyle Walker (Tottenham Hotspur), Ryan Bertrand (Southampton), Danny Rose (Tottenham Hotspur), Nathaniel Clyne (Liverpool).

Midfielders: Dele Alli (Tottenham Hotspur), Ross Barkley (Everton), Fabian Delph (Manchester City), Eric Dier (Tottenham Hotspur), Danny Drinkwater (Leicester City), Jordan Henderson (Liverpool), Adam Lallana (Liverpool), James Milner (Liverpool), Raheem Sterling (Manchester City), Andros Townsend (Newcastle United), Jack Wilshere (Arsenal).

Strikers: Wayne Rooney (Manchester United), Harry Kane (Tottenham Hotspur), Jamie Vardy (Leicester City), Daniel Sturridge (Liverpool), Marcus Rashford (Manchester United).

it's a shocker!
Stirling, Rooney, Wilshere and Delph Shocked
all of them are well out of form or have not played enough.

Milner - too slow

Stones, Cahill, smalling, in fact any of the England defenders are far from 'world class' but if that's the best we've got Joe Hart will need to be in the form of his life!

no Defoe, Carroll or Noble???
Maybe the team photos for the England marketing featured Wilshere and Rooney Cool

On a positive we could just about start with a decent XI

Vardy and Kane up top
Alli Barkley Dier/Henderson and Drinkwater/Lalana MF
God knows at the back, none of them are above 8/10 in my book.
Hart in goal

why take 3 keepers, 0 0 draws won't win sod all!

He couldnt pick any other players from Arsenal, Man United, Liverpool, Man City, Chelsea or Tottenham as he has picked all the english players that they possess.

Seems a waste of a space to me to take a third goalkeeper - what's the odds on two getting injured in such a short space of time?

You (for I cannot say 'we') seem to be a tad light at centre-back. Leaving Jagielka behind is a strange decision. Though I suppose you could push Dier in there at a push. But even so....

I'd have left Wayne at home and taken Andy Carroll instead just as an "impact substitute".

A goal behind with 10 minutes of a quarter-final remaining, he might just have been worth a gamble.

Sturridge and Lalanna how long will his hamstring hold up before Russia or the Slovaks kick it ? and Lalanna ?? where does he play in that midfield ? waste of a spot.

Delph's inclusion is a joke. Poor Mark Noble must know his face doesn't fit.
Sturridge is worth a gamble from the bench and has a few weeks to get stronger, but Wilshire shouldn't be on the plane after missing almost all of the season. We have a history of taking injuries to finals though and Hodgson is following his heart and not his head.
Jagielka is a strange one and Dier's versatility has done for him obviously.
All that said, if he picks it on form, our starting team could be decent, but Cahill and Stones at the heart of the defence will worry me.

Thumbs Up Thumbs Up Thumbs Up Thumbs Up

Couldn't agree more, when will we ever learn to pick people on form rather than misguided loyalty.
Mark Noble must have pissed in woy's cornflakes.

I'm glad Defoe not going. Give him a rest . But still with his experience he wouldn't have been a terrible addition. Despite his age he has saved Sunderland the past two seasons.

You have to take 3 goalkeepers you have no choice.

As for the squad, personally I wouldn’t have taken Delph. Henderson and Wilshere I think will be cut along with Rashford.

Noble though must have offended Roy in some way.

Think Jagielka has paid the price for the amount of goals Everton have let in this season but is he any better or worse than Stones.
Mark Noble should be in, Wilshere shouldn't all he has done has proved his fitness over 60 minutes nothing more.
If Vardy and Kane are upfront then Drinkwater should be in the starting line-up as Drinkwater has supplied numerous balls to Vardy this season, but then again Roy will play Vardy on the wing he won't do anything and we wont see him again.

Agree with Foxes on his points regarding Jagielka and Stones. I think Stones can and should do a job a full back and not centre half. Smalling has to be there and I accept that one but Cahill cannot be seriously going as a centre half cause that is woy's centre half pairing and he will be skinned alive by dangerous hungry skillfull clever forwards who are waiting for him and that's just in the 3 group games.Imagine Gareth Bale's face when Cahill's name was read out ?? Drinkwater has to play in midfield agree with that but why choose delph and lalanna then if that's the case and why Wiltshire ? only thing is he's a London and arsenal boy. Sturridge upfront is wrong. Totally wrong. His hamstring will go and he'll be screwed. Andy Carroll and Jermaine Defoe have done more to warrant the squad call then him. I agree with Ratchford going I'd have also taken Lindgaard with him. Vary and Kane have to start with Rooney behind them. Woy will start 1 upfront which will be kane and will play vardy wide which is a shocking waste of his form and talent. England chances going on that squad - 3rd in the group and out.
