Reserves.....football stats

A fellow pompey collector has started a new project.

Pompey reserves results & end of season tables.

Although he wants to go back to the 30's, I think for a start 46.47 onwards

would be more sensible.

Can anyone suggest any web sites or books??

Rothmans is your best bet for end of season table position.

Before Rothmans I have dug out the following:
56/7 Combination 16th (from the Empire News and Sunday Chronicle)
57/8 Combination 8th ( " )
58/9 Combination 12th (From the News Chronicle)
60/1 Combination Div 1 12th (Daily Mail Football Guide)
62/3 Mid Week League 11th (News of the World & Empire News or Playfair Annual)

Playfair ran for quite a long time and are pretty low cost on Ebay.

Nothing in Findons.

Couldn't see results in anything I've got - end of season programmes may be helpful.

I have various 'small style' football annuals some of which show final tables for the Combination.

This one is for the 1949/50 season and shows the league split into sections A and B.

You should be able to read the last column but if not drop me a PM.

This table was taken from the 1950/1 Sunday Chronicle Football Annual.

Some great knowledge on here!

I'll try to assist re Brentford FC's games v Portsmouth.

What I can say is, the trophies for the Midweek League Champions and Midweek League Cup Winners reside at Brentford FC. When this particular competition ceased, the trophies had nowhere to go, so they stayed at Griffin Park.

ps Brentford FC never won either competition though!
