Good Question pp.
I have 20 years to complete my collection. So i can choose what and when to buy my targets. So i dont have to jump on Ebay tomorrow and buy everything i need and so spending £1,000's at silly prices.
So i gather lots of information ie...Attendances and selling prices from ebay. When i have enough information, i then have a good idea of its value and rarity and so i have a figure which im willing to pay for the item.
I buy from all over the world and will pay £100's for items im looking for but also will not pay £10 for someting today, i know i will get for £5 sometime over the next year or so. I may sound daft but its all-part-of-the-chase.
Collecting FA Cup Final tickets is quite easy. From the end of WWII you only have to find 62 a few replays and your done, so for about £1000 you could get a good collection. This may take 1-2 years if your patient, If you are not and want the collection within a month it would probably cost you £1500 at buy-it-now prices on ebay.
So while waiting for a few last tickets to finish my collection, i need to keep busy and have decided to start picking up "The Winning Teams" cup-run tickets. So on average 6 games in a cup-run x 62 i have alot of information to collect, so as i can have a mental price in my head.
Now in 20 years time, if im still here, i will get a nice little counsil bungalow, pair of slippers, wont have a pension, plead poverty and try and scam as many state benifits i can. But i will also have "My Collection" which should pull me in a few quid, which the state are not going to know anything about.
So my collection will hopefully be more appealing to a wider range of collectors, than if i just collected items from one club. So as well as FA Cup collectors, i will also have collectors of that years winning side and with MY WORLD CUP COLLECTION i will have world cup collectors and collectors of the two teams involved in each match.
So the Target for the next 20 years is.........
Every FA CUP FINAL PROGRAMME from 1946 - 2029
Every FA CUP FINAL TICKET from 1935 - 2029 including WAR CUP FINALS.
Complete CUP-RUN of tickets from 1946 - 2029
Every WORLD CUP FINALS COMPETION TICKET from 1958 - 2028.
Its nice to have a collection of programmes for YOUR TEAMS CUP RUN but framing them and hanging them on your wall, will take up a large space and if you follow a BIG CLUB your gunna need a BIG HOUSE with loads of BIG WALLS. But to frame THE FINAL PROGRAMME and TICKET with the cup-run tickets only takes ONE FRAME ! So Man Utd, Arsenal, Liverpool and Chelsea fans wont need to buy something like the "Berlin Wall".
SO IF ANY OF YOU ARE BORED.......HAVE A BIT OF TIME.......AND WANT TO HELP A POOR OLD BALDIE WITH A FEW STATS.......PICK A YEAR AND SEND ME THE ATTENDANCES FOR THE WINNING CLUBS RUN......GO ON......YA KNOW YA WANNA xxxxxx
Are ya still awake.........? |

What a strangely orthodox, anorakky way of doing things. Do you count the cracks in paving stones on the way to work?
Here's tip if you want to do some serious investigating at not too dear a price, and have a wonderful statistical resource at the end of it.
Breedon books are currently commissioning reprints of their Complete Record series - which have every match result, score and scores, and crowd details in the books. A truly superb read.
Go on to either ABE Books, or AMAZON, and type in Breedon Football Complete Record, and watch as the pages come up. I have recently started collecting the original series, but at the weekend bought the updated books of York City, Carlisle and Wolves for a combined total of £32 including postage. All brand spanking new, and would each cost you £19.99 at any major bookshop. Don't ask me how they get them so cheap, but what a hell of a bargain. Unfortunately, I'm now taking a credit card hammering buying these books as they certainly won't be that price again. I know Carlise and York have never won the FACup, but you'd get your money's worth with Wolves (they've also reprinted WBA and other FACup winning sides) The books are a football fans literary orgasm! |

Christ.....Why didn't i think of that.
That works out at just over £10.00 a book.......Bargin.
Lucky only 24 different sides have won the cup since the war.
So all i have to do now is DIG-DEEP into my ANORAK pockets and find about £250.00.........To find out a couple of attendances......Bargin.
Oh......I also get FREE LITERARY ORGASMS.......Just gotta hope i dont stick the pages together.
Perhaps.......It'll be easier to read "The Final programme" and get the information there, whilst thinking of "Naked men" so i dont get a "Literary Orgasm" and cum all over the programme.
Big Kisses......Mister Gas xxx |

Great memories indeed Phil. Although I wasn't even a twinkle in my parents eyes back then!
Possibly Everton's greatest ever FA Cup Final. 2-0 and come back to win 3-2! Amazing stuff! That Eddie fella running onto the pitch with the policeman who took off his hat and had to jump on him to stop him! hahaha |

I did say a literary orgasm, not a literal one....
On a slightly more serious note, if you're saving for your dotage, Breedons might not be a bad idea. Many fot he originals command three figures now adays, the updated versions may go same way. Would mean having less to worry about scamming state benefits etc. |

Forest's winning season as follows
10.1.59 Tooting and Micham United (a) 2-2 - 14,300
24.1.59 Tooting and Mitcham United (h) 3-0 - 42,300
28.1.59 Grimsby (h) 4-1 - 34,289
14.2.59 Birmingham City (a) 1-1 - 55,300
18.2.59 Birmingham City (h) 1-1 - 39,431
23.2.59 Birmingham City (Filbert Street) 5-0 - 34,458
28.2.59 Bolton Wanderers (h) 2-1 - 44,414
14.3.59 Aston Villa (Hillsborough) 1-0 - 65,707
2.5.59 Luton town (Wembley) 2-1 - 100,000
Non of these programmes are exceptionally rare. The most difficult one to find in my experience is Tooting and Mitcham away but I picked my copy up on ebay for less than £25.00 If I recall correctly

I have a statistical history of Forest 1865 - 1991 if you ever want to know anything Forest related.
The book is entitled "Forest - the first 125 years, The official statistical record of the Nottingham Forest football club" catchy title eh?
Written by Ken Smales, published in 1991 by Temple printing, I am sure you could pick up a copy for considerably cheaper than the £18.50 initial price |
