Can anyone tell me why this friendly took place when there was a full
1st Division fixture list for this Saturday.

It doesn't really say inside why this match was arranged other than welcoming United ?

It was FA Cup sixth round day. So, i would assume, Manchester United's and Lincoln's opponents that day were still in the FA Cup?

Ah Cheers Paul.

It just seems a random friendly to me and not exactly on the doorstep.

Everyone local must have been commited to a match in the league or the cup

Manchester United should have been at Newcastle that afternoon.

Lincoln, I don't know precisely, they were a 2nd Division side then and were due to play either Birmingham or Notts County.

More research and useless information when there is no game to go to on a Saturday. Laughing

United were knocked out of the cup by City[as if u didn't know! Laughing ] but that was at the end of January.

Lincoln were also hanging around with anything to do so Matt Busby was all for playing games and seeing how he can get some of the younger boys into the side.

PS Entrance fees have had to go up-sorry and all that-you have to bring your own tea bags to get a comp to slip in the back door![keep it clean now!]
