Bonkers. Like a number of other players, why go to Man City or Chelsea just to warm the bench most weeks - apart from the money?
Would he be selected for England from the bench?
If I was a player I would want to play as often as possible. |

But any player worth his salt is going to believe he is good enough to start for any team. So, with that in mind Sterling would be stupid not to move given that he will believe he is good enough to start, will earn far more money and unlike at Liverpool he will actually win trophies. |

As a closet Red, I agree with Jim, the sooner he goes the better.
He's nowhere near as good as he or his scumbag agent think he is.
The first club to offer £50m and Liverpool should bite their arm off.
The only trouble is, I don't trust Rodgers to spend the money wisely, but that's a whole other story.
As badly advised as he's been, Sterling makes me sick.
He bangs on about wanting to win trophies, yet neglects to stand up to the plate when the opportunity for medals arises.
Didn't turn up for the Villa semi, and hides like a girl during penalty shoot-outs.
The Reds are well shut of him and I personally believe Jordan Ibe has as much potential, if not even more.
Jerome Sinclair possibly too. |

When you think of all the famous players to have played for Liverpool over the years Sterling is nothing, should get rid of him. |

Compared to previous players he may be nothing but that is not where Liverpool are now. At the moment he is the best they have and given the mediocre players Liverpool are currently recruiting you can not blame any good player without a connection to Merseyside wanting to ply their trade elsewhere. |

Manchester City have made some truly shocking bad signings over the years. They pay crazy money for the flavour of the week never mind the month . I can name more bad signings than good ones, but they have so much money to burn it don't bother them. |

ok jim/wullie
bad signings I give you roque santa cruz, wayne bridge,Adeybayor, sinclair, nastcic.
Jury still out on fernando Mangala, jovecvic, Navas
Good signings for where we were...Nigel de Jong James Milner Kolarov all
have proved their worth in what we achieved.
Fantastic signings over the past 5-6 years
Zabeleta
Kompany
Hart
Silva
Aguero
YA YA
What have Liverpool spunked over shite players in the same time frame?
It's what happens with every club in the prem...you win some you lose some.
Bet your not that far behind our spending in the corresponding years.
It's easy to blame City for the spending.
The red tops...Sky...and talkshite love to put a negative slant on City.

Agree with most of what you say until you get too 'The red tops...Sky...and talkshite love to put a negative slant on City'
To be honest I think Citeh have had an easy ride from the media but that is because they are a bit of a meh club that offend no one apart from their neighbours. |

One point mentioned on the radio the other day is that City need English players to meet the forthcoming quota of English born players in the (Champions League?) squad.
To City, £40 or £50 million is irrelevant and they would not care if Sterling plays or not. It helps them get over this problem. |

Adam Johnson,Jack Rodwell,Scott Sinclair all English players who's careers headed south after signing for City. Like I say, they just buy flavour of the moment. Of course, some will turn out great signings but a hell of a lot don't. Hardly makes the manager a genius.... but I agree Liverpool can stand accused of terrible signings.
Lets face it , the quality is always what it's been , only insane amounts of money nowadays are paid for average players. Because a player can cost £50 million doesn't make him a great player. It's mind boggling. I cancelled my Sky subscription. I'm no longer paying for the insanity. They don't even have the Champions league anymore . |

this has become two threads and not one
One is talking about Liverpool and the other is talking about City
The only thing they have in common is money but at opposite ends of the spectrum
Liverpool, with American owners have done what American owners like to do which is "what's the bottom line?"
They will prod every deal whether it is players, sponsorship, promotions to make the maximum profit available
Everything else including the fans are secondary
Liverpool clearly need a bigger capacity but the costs associated outweigh the income so that is happening slowly
The fans want to see the best but the appeal of what is now a second tier premiership club is limited
By that i mean Chelsea,City and to a level Arsenal are way ahead of Liverpool in what they can offer both to challenge for honours and salary.
United, for what it's worth are also not in the top tier.
They are currently in the second tier and how we buy this summer will decide if we stay alongside Liverpool and Spurs or whether we step back up.
Suarez has proved himself correct in leaving. It was right for both parties
He is now a champions league winner and Liverpool got the readies
Sterling is different however. He is a prospect and nothing more.Saurez was the finished article
If Sterling wants to leave i would sell him.We are now just left with the amount.
The amount paid for a top finished product player is £70/80m
Sterling imo is £35m/50m
The lower figure is based on the fact that there is relatively not a lot left on his contract
The higher figure would come into play if the "rich" teams came in and there were enough of them to cause an auction
Just touching on City
I think they are currently shitting on the fans
The owners appear to have a world wide agenda to spread the "brand" of their country at any cost
Buying a lot of expensive players of which a good percentage don't make it means fcuk all
They just turn up the taps on the oil well and raise another billion
What does piss the City fans off,i believe,is things like almost doubling the cost of season tickets this season
Why??
City have had long suffering fans who almost got used to the abuse and now they have more or less turned into what United was.And some understandably don't like it and/or the way they are being treated |
