In my opinion , this is the greatest cover ever for a programme. Oddly the colours are Sunderland v Aston Villa . Looking at the large format , massive crowd , terrible weather, a programme from this game in good condition must be a collectors dream.

I can't explain why but this is my favourite cover of the programmes I have.

Maybe it's the colours and simple design that United have never used again to my knowledge.

Did they use a different printer for the f.o.B ?

It's unlike anything they had produced before.

This was my favourite till it ultimately ended up with someone who hard a family member playing at the game and really appreciated it

A recent acquisition, in the form of a standard Hearts programme of the time but a different cover which, while being nothing special, has a certain charm to it.

Some nice covers on this thread, and the one linked by bisphamseasider, a colourful collection of programmes.

Brentford FC's are nowhere near as good as some of these. Pretty average if you ask me! The only one worth showing is the cover that covered the 1952/53 season through to 1956/57, which for Brentford was quite good!

Sorry it's not in the same class as that Banbury Spencer FC cover.

Including the "Blue Note" title?

This was copied from the official logo of the time. It is an unusual cover for United.

I never understood how Hull City produced an early post war programme that would put many clubs 1980s issues to shame. How did they manage to get hold of all that paper ? Compare a Hull 1946/47 issue with any other club in the country.

Oops. Sorry about that Holtie96. It was very much appreciated though. I picked up another on Friday at the Sportingold Auction. It was the match after he played his last first-team game, so he was listed on the team sheet, but actually didn't play. The quest continues...

A couple of Hull City ones here.

The first is from the opening of Boothferry Park, colour and style. The secnd is from 1948-49 and also fits as an example of the style changing half way through the season - it changed to the Man Utd example, but I don't know why unless it was to save on the multi colour version
