I've got a St Johnstone v Motherwell programme dated 23 September, but there is no refernce to the year or any clue to it anywhere in the programme.

It looks 1960's (late), and is the same set up as this one;

Is there a day of the week mentioned and if you look up the players you can probably cross reference them on the internet for when they played for their clubs etc

Its a Saturday fixture. Surnames only on the players.

According to statto.com the two teams played each other on 23.09.1961 and 23.09.1972, both of which were Saturdays (http://www.searchforancestors.com/utility/dayofweek.html) and both were Scottish Division One (old) games so it was one of these two dates.

You suggest its similar to the "ST JOHNSTONE v AIRDRIEONIANS DIVISION 1 7th OCT 1960s" programme on ebay.

The teams played each other on 07.10.1961 and 07.10.1995, therefore both the programmes tally up to appear to be from the 1961/62 season

That was a Sunday, the programme was from the year before Thumbs Up

Used a date search thing on Wikipedia and it came up as being a saturday in 61 and 62????

Had to be early 60's has Charlie Mcfadyen played and he was only with the Saints for 10 years between 55 and 65.(The power of the internet!!! Very Happy

)

61 it is then.
