Texaco Cup in Ireland

In the first couple of seasons of this inter-league tournament teams from Ireland took part. Does anyone know if any programmes were issued for any of the ties involving Irish sides I know of only two so far Wolves v Derry and Airdrie v Ballymeana. Other games were .

Defo one for the Derry v Wolves game , this was selling for upwards of £200 + several years ago , now you can pick one up for prob £30 to £50.

Gary did Rovers not issue at all during 70-1 and 71-2, or did they just not for Texaco Cup? (I have very Rovers home from that general era.)

They issued for a friendly v Everton in 1971 (but not for Birmingham same weekend according to a collector who attended both). I don't recall any other issues offhand from those 2 seasons.

In general after 1961/62 they only issued regularly for the second half of 1965/66 and for 1972/3. They started issuing a regular programme again in 1977/78 and ever since. In that period they issued for some friendlies and for European games. They may have produced the odd issue for a home FAI Cup tie.

The only Rovers v Dundalk issue I'm aware of in that period is for 72/3 (can't recall if it is league or cup game but I saw a photocopy and a Dundalk based Dundalk collector I believe has the original). There may have been one for the league game in April 1966 although I'm pretty sure none was done for Limerick in November 1965.

The 1972/73 programmes were a large double sided sheet folded a few times to make an A5 programme. They seemed to have issued for most if not all games that season.

I have a Rovers-Shels FAI Cup game from late 60s which I’m pretty sure is an official issue, I’ll check what season later. I think it was later than 66-7 but earlier than 72-3.

I’ve heard of the notorious large single sheets from that season! Dundalk played Rovers away in the cup 72-3 so I expect I may be looking for 2 of those elusive Rovers 72-3 programmes.

Shamrock Rovers met Shelbourne every year in the cup from 1966 -1970. 66,67,68 & 70 were all at Milltown. There was an FAI programme for the 1969 semi final at Dalymount. There would have been a programme for 65/66.

programmes exist for Rovers v Shelbourne 66 & 67 in the FAI Cup and also for their 3rd round tie v Drogheda in 1971. That was a famous 5-2 win for Drogheda. I'm not aware of others from that period but there are likely to be more.
